MCSE Books?

Okay so I"m finally getting towards graduating(this August with any luck) with my BA in Business Admin and I'm going back to school for MCSE courses.
I'd like to do as much as possible before I start taking the courses.
With NO BUDGET in mind for books, which one's would you recommend and why?
Set or single edition or whatever. I know enough on how to setup my home DSL connection, that's about it so I know I've got quite a bit to learn. Half the time I need stuff explained to me like a 3 year old unless I'm being physically shown, please keep that in mind.

I am currently taking an MCSE course at school.
Hopefully you will be taking yours from an approved
Microsoft Training Center. They use the Microsoft Official
Curriculum books. Dont use the braindump sites if you want to
learn this stuff the right way. Are you going to take the 2000
track or the new 2003 track ie: XP an windows 2003 server?
I would suggest taking CompTIA 's A+ and Network+ tests first,
they count as 1 elective toward MCSE and are relatively easy.
Also if you can pass the Network+ its a good start on a Cisco CCNA
knowlegewise. Add 70-210, 70-215 and 70-218 = an MCSA
Microsoft tests are getting harder so be well prepared before
you take even the 70-210 test

they can be alot of help.

is a good start on the 2000 track

I honestly want to learn more for myself than anything, if I get a certification I want it to be because I know my stuff not because I can CRAM answers into my head for a short amount of time.

I need to take my exam and possibly a little more work with SCSI devices, I should be ready for that I hope or at least Michael Meyers has been generous enough to write 2 excellent books that I've been using for a while now.

Network+

I never thought of that, maybe that would be a good stepping stone!
