I would have liked to see everyone clear out of the building...then let the government blow it up with Timmy inside...but I am happy nevertheless.

Rationalizing murder is not the way.

As opposed to the death penalty as I am, McVeigh tested my principles. It is difficult to see someone so cold inside, and to believe that somehow, this society produced him. I'd be more interested in his motives and psychology than his death, since his death will in no way stop another would be American Terrorist. But by coming to some form of comprehension of his methods, we might be able to protect ourselves from the next.

This morning, while watching the list of his victims scroll by, I openly wept. Though it is a beautiful day, the sunshine isn't as bright anymore. But, I still can not rationalize murder in the name of murder.

One day, seemingly a forever ago, the US was the bright star of hope, promise, and compassion that lit the world. Today, its star hangs low, and no longer shines with that same light.

We are no longer the dream that was. We are soiled.

Yeah and the $20,000 per year to keep him alive in prison... dont bring the money issue into this because you cant win

Hah, I don't know about you - but I'm happy to live in one of the world's greatest nations.

Anyways, back to the topic, screw McVeigh. Death was too good for him, he needed to feel the pain and suffering of each individual he impacted with that bomb. Rot in Hell forever, scumbag.

He had two ounces of mint chocolate ice cream as him last meal, how ironic

No, I believe it was 2 pints.

I live 45 minutes away from the place he was executed at a few hours ago...about 2 hours ago in a few minutes. I didn't think they should just kill him, but my TV station had this tribute where they showed a picture of each person, and that kind of made me think he deserved to die.

Damn! I feel sorry for the guy.........I feel sorry for the victims too.......but is that how one justifies death?.......by killing another person?....I dont think so.....it was all unnecessary.........it started with the 90 killed and then.........total = 90+168+1......RIP

Just my opinion

Let him burn in hell!

You whiny ass anti death penalty advocates make me sick! What good would keeping this POS alive do for anyone? It would just make him continue to be a highly sought after inteview and give him a podium to spew forth his worthless ramblings. Ever heard of Charles Manson? Yeah keeping him alive has done a lot of great things!! Hell I see teenagers all the time with Manson shirts on and when you ask them about it 99% of them say "that dude is funny" Funny? Yeah he's a freaking riot!

Does it cost more to execute someone than it does to keep them in prison? No it does not. What costs more is the fact that the justice system is so damn slow to put them to death that on average it takes 17 years to do so. The cost of litigation in those 17 years is what drives up the cost.

Did McVeigh's victims get the same compassion from him that you are now asking that we give him? Hell no, he knew people and even children would die and what did he call them? Collateral damage that's what. Yeah...he really deserves my compassion. I wish they had given me 5 minutes alone with the bastard. Not only would he be dead in a much more painful way, it would have also saved some precious $ that you seem so worried about.

I don't know what to feel about the whole thing, but one thing I do know is that I was disgusted by the gleeful field reporter on the news last night telling the Ken N' Barbie anchors how he hoped he could land a spot as a whitness, and that he'd "Try his best to get in there". The anchors whished him "good luck" in getting in for the station.

No matter the debate over whether this is right or wrong, the media still manage to disgust me completely.

Individual healing is not contingent upon seeing venegeance exacted upon the perpetrator.

The demand for personal exaction of justice only ties the victim to the perpetrator. It gives the perpetrator power to torment you even when he isn't present.

"Forgiveness" (in well-reasoned Christian thought) has two levels: the human and the divine. Human forgiveness is not linked to seeing justice served. Jesus expressed forgiveness from the Cross even though the perpetrators went unpunished (from a human persepective). Literally, forgiveness means "send away." When we forgive, we break the bond that the perpetrator has inflicted on us by his abuse. We "divorce" (another meaning for the greek word translated "forgive" in the NT Scriptures) the issue and break the power of the perpetrator.

The opinion that McVeigh must die so that the families of his victims can be healed is erroneous. Their healing is not linked to his death but rather to their ability to experience miraculous grace and healing.

On the other hand, the divine level of forgiveness is linked to authority, society at large, and the inner workings of the human heart. Here, human government has a role to play, and has the authority to take human life that is guilty of "bloodguilt." This judicious use of the death penalty is not considered "murder", which is what the commands of God actually forbid. In Christian thought, this authority has been bestowed on human government by God himself. Jesus did not contest that authority when he stood before Pontius Pilate, and the Apostles, most of whom were killed for their faith, also taught that human government has this authority. Those in positions of authority will give account for how they use it. The earliest Christians were abused and victimized by unjust use of the death penalty, yet taught that government had the right to use the death penalty in certain cases.

Corporate punishment is intended to encourage individual responsibility and deter abuse. When held accountable for my own bloodguilt, I am more likely to deal honestly with it and possibly experience divine transformation and forgiveness.

On a more personal level, leaving the "Christian rambling" behind, I am deeply troubled by the prevailing thought of many that McVeigh had to die in order to bring healing to the victims. I do not deny the government's role or existence of the death penalty as a means of restraining human lawlessness and holding people accountable for heinous crimes against humanity. Holding one accountable is one of the best ways to enable the deliverance of that one's soul.

But my choice to forgive and "send away" the wound and be healed is not contingent upon anything that the perpetrator does or anything that is done to him.

The only person guaranteed to be healed by forgiveness is the one who forgives, and that grace of forgiveness is open to all who will choose to walk that narrow road. It is not dependent on anything anyone else does or anything that is done to anyone else.

<< What I was hoping for is that we could see some kind of 'I'm sorry,' but we didn't get anything like that," said witness Paul Howell. "My emotions were that it was just a big relief. Just a big sigh came over my body and it felt real good." >>

---From CNN

Thats what makes me feel sick, Vengence. its like this: oh "i felt real good" watching him die, dame i wanna to kill someone, well him at least, i wanna murder just like him. i enjoy killing people. WHAT GOOD DOES IT DO? i acknowldge that he had to die or jailed for life (he choose to die so he wont suffer all his life, brave and wise) , but i am absulutly disgusted at these types of atittuds.

168 innocent victims perhaps, but he deserves nothing less than eternity burning in hell.

I really do not think that the people will find the peace they are seeking from Timothy McVeigh's death.

I agree with what was written above by Athanasius:

<< The demand for personal exaction of justice only ties the victim to the perpetrator. It gives the perpetrator power to torment you even when he isn't present. >>

and

<< When we forgive, we break the bond that the perpetrator has inflicted on us by his abuse. >>

Even though intuitively it may seem that vengence would be the most satisfying, in the long run it erodes us from the inside out.

If given the opportunity I would have put a bullet in him myself. And you can d@mn well bet that had a child of mine been in that building when he blew it up there would have been no chance for a last minute paron or appeal. And I would have no remorse for killing Mcveigh. Just as he had no remorse over the deaths of 18 month old infants and small children. F#ck him. Burn in Hell Mcveigh.
