MCW60

I recently ordered a bunch of parts to redo my loop and add my GPU. Today, I was planning on starting the project, when I found something a bit odd. I took apart the MCW60 to replace the mounting bracket, and opened it up to take a look at the inside of the block. It looks like several of the pins are belt and misshaped. It also seems as though there's some kind of stain or discoloration in a few spots.

Is this normal? I looked the pictures on Swiftech's site and they don't look anything like this. Here are some pictures of my block:

There was also some copper debris on the other half of the block, but it looks like that would clean up easily. I'm just concerned that there is a problem with this block, or that I possibly got an item that was actually used or something. I certainly wouldn't have expecting the pins to look as badly as they do, but figured I'd check here to see what others have experienced with these blocks.

That looks really strange. I don't have one though so I have nothing to compare it to.

mcw60's come in a plastic box which is hard to open.

was yours opened when you bought it?

it looks like QoC.

Id email swiftech and ask them.

The packaging looked like this. It didn't seem too hard to open, just had to pop out the two tabs at the top.

So, it sounds like this isn't normal? Should I contact Jab-tech, or just contact Swiftech directly?

No that base should not look like that. The pin matrix sould all be straight and nop with some warps. I would advise you to contact swiftech directly, they should be able to ship you out a new base no problem.

Base should be either cast or forged, so the pins should be perfect - not that it would likely make a lot of diff in the thermal results. Assembler should have kicked that one back. Probably figured the customer would never see 'em...

Thanks for the replies. I've emailed Swiftech, so now I'll just wait and see what they say.

What sucks is, I've had all these parts here since last weekend except the mounting plate for my gtx280 which was on back-order. The plate arrived this morning and I had planned to do all the work this weekend. Now it looks like I'm going to have to wait at least another week while this gets sorted out.

Is that a real MCW60 or a cheap chinese knockoff, that looks horrible!
