For the lack of something better to do, I'm going to post my little story about getting a new monitor.

After some questions and monitor threads, I decided to go with a Samsung Syncmaster 900IFT because I was looking for a 19in monitor. It was basically between that and the Hitachi Superscan 715. At the time the 900IFT was only a tad more after the $30 Samsung rebate and also better from what I heard. However, after ordering, I signed up with Pointclick. So I emailed them (pointclick) and asked if I would still get reimbursed even though I signed up after purchasing. They said no, but suggested cancelling my order (which was backordered) and reordering to be elligble for the 10% back. I did so and the 900IFT was still on backorder with no ETA. So I waited for about 8 days and during those 8 days, looked around and posted some more threads, and found the Samsung 900NF to be better. While it is a AG monitor, which is annoying to some, but I decided to go with it anyway. The 900IFT was still backordered and I had it cancelled. Then a couple days later, the 900NF was finally 'In stock' at Onvia and it was in the morning so Onvia showed up at the Pointclick Network. I proceeded to order it only to find that the $25 off coupon was 'already used'. I used it on my 900IFT order but that was cancelled so I assumed that it wasn't updated or something so I couldn't use the coupon. I called up Onvia customer service and the guy was really helpful. It wouldn't let him use the coupon either so he just ordered it for me and told me the coupon wouldn't show up on the email they give you confirming the order, but it will when they deliver it. I'm not sure about this, but he said to call them when I get it delivered to make sure the credit card is charged the correct amount. Again, he was really helpful and I see why people say Onvia has great support now! I called once before to check if any 900IFT's were in and that time, the woman didn't seem kind or helpful like this guy. It was at a busy time where I was on hold, so maybe she was just having a bad day. So, I got the 900NF ordered but it was on Saturday so it wouldn't ship till Monday. Today is Monday and on the Order Tracking page, it still doesn't have a tracking number. I hope it is shipped already!! I checked the real time inventory at http://www.cmpexpress.com and they showed about 10 at the warehouse in Indiana. Then I checked the transit times and I live about 50 miles away from the '1 day shipping zone' which puts me in the '2 day shipping zone'. That is great! That means IF they shipped it out TODAY from the Carol Stream, IL warehouse, I SHOULD have it tomorrow (Tuesday). I can't wait! Anything instead of this POS 15in that kills my eyes. Now, if only my video card supported a refresh rate of higher than 60hz at 1600x1200 (900NF supports 85hz)!

Well, there's no real point to post this long message, but like I said, I have nothing better to do so I feel like speaking out!

[EDIT]Wonder if anyone will read this all?

On a side note, I was at Best Buy and had the chance to compared a Viewsonic PF790 and a KDS AV-195TF side-by-side. Though they had some moving demo on, I could notice the KDS had better text quality. It was crisp compared to the PF790's somewhat blurry text. The KDS also looked to have a tad brighter colors. Then there was some 19in EMC monitor but that looked like sh1t so I was comparing the Viewsonic and KDS. I think both of those are Trinitron. I know the KDS is for sure and am pretty sure the Viewsonic is. As far as those two damper wires, I couldn't notice them at all, no matter what the background image was. That is good news for me because I have never used a AG monitor.

well, i'd get me a 900NF too.. only if i had the cash

Also, don't trust best buy's display too much, they split the signal up so much, it's almost a worthless comparison. This is me speaking from employee experience here.

I'd like to get a 900NF too, but it's not as expensive as you may think. After pointclick, samsung rebate, and onvia $25 off, it comes out to around $350

I just got my Triniton 19" monitor and I love it. I started off at 1280x1024 but yesterday I pushed it up to 1600x1200 (@87Hz) and it's great. You can just fit more on the screen...it's cool
