So I bought a grill a couple days ago and am ready cook with fire!

Anyone read any cookbooks for bbqs and/or grilss?

Oh and in case you wanna know what type ===> Grill

Its not the fanciest, but I'm just learning here.

Steven Riechland's Barbecue bible...the guy is a putz but his book is awesome!

you really dont need a book

all you need is a REMOTE THERMOMETER and a temp chart for assorted foods

and a few guidelines like:
dont rub on sugar-based sauces on food during high temp cook or itll burn off
make sure food is dry when put on for nice sear. oil is okay. slopping wet is bad
food will "finish" cooking in retained heat... so if you need to hit 130* (for example beef steak), then remove at 125*
let meats "rest" for max tenderness

etc etc


books just rehash some stupid rubs and sauces ovre and over

If you want some books, i know Bobby Flay from Food Network has 3 or 4 grill books that are good.

But keep in mind he does real BBQ (wood chips, indirect heat, smoking) as opposed to "grilling" which is what you do with hotdogs, burgers and steaks.

If I'm just charring some burgers or steaks I'll throw it on the gas grill. Now if I'm doing some real BBQ (ribs, brisket, pork) I fill up 2 chimneys and get to cooking.

I grew weary of the Brinkmann-type grills. I grill about 4-6 days a week, even in the winter and these grills cannot stand up to rigorous use I put them through. In 15 years I have lived in my house, I have gone through 5 inexpensive grills to the tune of at least a grand. So, this past weekend I bit the bullet and went to Home Depot and picked up the Weber S-320 Genesis. Yeah, I had to do some serious convincing to myself to justify spending 1k on a grill, but hopefully it will be worth it. It has a 25 year warranty for the tub and cover, 10 years on the burners and 5 years on the stainless grates and grease shields that cover the burners. I've used it every night since last Saturday and i think I am in love :heart: Sweet grill, heats like it has afterburners and cooks oh so evenly! It better do it right for what I paid for it!

As for cookbooks, ( shameless plug) Weber's Way to Grill is great as well as Weber's Big Book of Grilling. I have both of them and plan to wear them out as soon as possible.

I always just google what I'm cooking, there's tons of good sites out there. BBQing a beef roast right now.

Not really. Anything that's faster and more convenient means you'll use it more and using the grill more is a good thing. The secret to gas grills is not to clean them. Old, cooked-on grease mimics charcoal pretty nicely.

Charcoal grills are pretty damned convenient if you know how to properly light/prepare them. Sure, gas is along the lines of turn it on and press the ignition switch, but if you have a stovepipe charcoal starter (usually about the size of a large coffee can) to get the coals going and evenly heated.

Grilling/barbecuing. :thumbsup:

i have a weber smokey joe and love it. my box o' stuff includes spatulas, tongs, skewers, a lighter and a chimney starter (and a few other things)

i love the damn thing.

A traeger pellet grill is several billion times superior to the weber bullet

That's like saying a Porche is superior to a Civic. For 5x the price I'd sure freaking hope so.
