Battletech is the name of the IP/universe. Battlemech is the name of the main military vehicles. Mechwarrior is the name of those piloting a Battlemech.

Mechwarrior is from Battletech Lore, the reason why it's called Mechwarrior is because that was the name of the first PC FPS mech shooter out of Battletech lore. MW1-current. There were also Battletech games where you command lances and stuff, but it's overhead view.

Kinda like you have different types of Star Wars games, like X-Wing/TIE Fighter, then you have Dark Trooper, KOTOR, etc. It all follows the same lore.

To follow up, you can get MechCommander 1 & 2 for free. Should play those if you haven't.

I got into BT in 3rd grade when i went over to a friends house. His dad was HUGE into it. Always had a battle set up on the coffe table. The maps he used were fantastic. Lots of detail and were fancy enough to be actual fold up board game boards. He had plastic VTOL's, Tanks and Infantry. Tons of painted minnies, and even more cardboard ones. It was fantastic. Sucked me right in.

I really wish i could find the old cardboard mechs (actual items or image files i can prin t off). they looked very 'military' and realistic. I like minnies better, but for the cost you cant beat the cutouts.

You need something called Pepakura to print out the files. Looks like there's a free reader, so you can probably print2pdf and bring it somewhere for oversize color output.

Man, I am so close to getting the damn founders pack. I swear, if I just had an hour to play the game or more actual gameplay videos to watch I probably would lol.

I've done a lot of reading and they are seeming to do the F2P right so I'm game.

This. Not committing until I can view the near final product. Preferably play it.

Sold something in the Auction House to upgrade to Legendary?

Sold several things. The UK and Euro groups don't seem to spend as much money as the US (loosely based on what I've heard and read about the US and personal experience on the UK and Euro RMAH's).

Managed to sell a crafted quiver (40 essence, some tears, some tomes, 120k gold) for £29 (~$45) after deductions as well as a few misc items for £1-£3.

People are buying $250 items on RMAH in the US so yeah...

But you have to have rolled a pretty good crafted quiver for it to get bought. My experience with crafting has not been soo..... fortunate. :\

Thanks to Diablo 3, I have now upgraded to Legendary

http://www.gamestar.de/index.cfm?pid=1589&pk=66559

This is an 'older' leaked video which seemed to vanish from the radar but has nicely reappeared for us

The graphics are looking much better in this video. My interest is peaking. LOL I'll wait and watch thru July and see how things progress. I need to spend more time reading their forums too. Some good info in there if you can dig through the muck.

Love the video, the devs really need to release videos like this so people can actually see the game. The 2 beta videos that I've watched has pretty much sold me on the game, on the other hand, nearly none of the devs videos have come close lol

I'm sorry to say that I quite agree with you guys.

I was 100% definitely going to PLAY the game when it was released but the LEAKED CLOSED BETA videos sold me on PAYING for the game before it's even out of beta

If someone recorded gameplay, mixed and mashed it up into faster and more bitesize chunks then distribruted it through official channels, I'd expect sales to rocket.

Graphics-wise... I'm not overly impressed yet but these leaks seem to be of a lowish resolution and it's early days. As I game at 1920x1080 on a 47" screen when I do play, I'm very aware that my view is a bit distorted when it comes to videos that don't use 1920x1080, fill my screen and keep a high enough bitrate. It's looking good enough for me as-is... improvements (and better quality video) is definitely welcome though!

I was big into it. I had a 8X8 table set up exclusively for BT. I had dozens of maps made to that size drawn by a artist friend of mine and professionally printed front and back and laminated. I had hundreds of lead minitures, at least one of every mech, tank, and a box of several dozen elementals and some infantry. Some I had to cast myself, and all painted by me. I had styrofoam buildings, hills, mountains and other miscellaneous junk, all hand carved and made to scale for my maps. My friends and I had major battles that lasted weeks, with us getting together after school and playing a few hours.

The table and maps, along with all the painted styrofoam was donated to my local gaming store when I went to university and no longer had any room for the huge setup. I still have all my books and my miniatures are carefully packed away in a half dozen surplus military ammunition boxes, each mini wrapped in cotton and packed in foam, now sitting in the garage untouched for the last 15 years.

Maybe it is time to break out the old stuff and see if I can't get someone interested in playing again.

For some reason your story brings back memory of Toy Story 3.

I checked that out last night and those are actually really cool. But not quite what im looking for. Im thinking of the old Battletech Reinforcements box from 1985. I actually have Battletech Reinforcements 2, but id really like a scan of the older one with all the mechs.

WTH, I wanted to scream at the guy driving that Hunchback. Freakin get in there and slam your AC/20 in that Cat's back over and over.

Instead he just stands there trying to aim it at the PPC's...

Yeah, that Hunchback pilot was bad to say the least.

Looks like a repeat of world of tanks again.

Am I going to have to kill atlases in my jenner because our atlas is fucking stupid and got his back shot off?

Na, I think if you don't pull your weight to some degree in MWO you will be screwed with not earning enough C-Bills to cover all your repair costs and ammo. You will see a lot more tactics in MWO once everyone gets the hang of it as well, since it is beta, the dude might have been stuff he wouldn't do otherwise (though I doubt it).

That hunchback should of been playing forward position to his Atlas' and when he saw a concentration of enemy mechs, shouldn't of pretty much abandoned that Atlas.

The pilot just didn't have a sense of tactics at all.

If WOT has taught me anything, it's that idiots with enough perseverance and a credit card will overcome all sense of tactics and eventually end up with the best mech anyways. They WILL roll their faces on the keyboard until they get an Atlas and they WILL still be terrible and you WILL still need to carry your team.
