Graphics look decent enough. It is all about the game play though. That's what I want to see.

excellent news:

weapon group management, throttle management and heat sink management as well.

In a new twist from previous MechWarrior games, torso mounted weapons and arm-mounted weapons will have independent targeting reticles. That means players will be able to fire on two different targets depending on how they have their weapon groups setup.

I hope they keep the level of customization from the computer released mech warrior series. Addition of heatsink, armor, different type of armor (regular, reflective, reactive), anti-missile systems, ECM and ECCM capabilities, jumpjets, etc...

I seriously hope that subsystem damage is in, and that torso/arm turn speed is taken into account, and that aim accuracy is reduced while moving/turning (ala counterstrike, or WoT style). I also hope that shooting someone in the rear/side is more effective, to encourage flanking manuevers. It also wouldn't hurt if heavier armor could deflect/bounce normal rounds, and that reflective armor would have a chance of reflecting energy/laser weapons.​

The torso probably can't be aimed without moving the whole torso. Probably best to save those slots for missiles and ACs.

Ok, I'm really excited now. It looks great and plays a lot like I would expect Mechs to play. I can't wait! :thumbsup:

As was said in the blog, mouse controls the "free" reticle which instantly moves any arm-mounted weapons while the second "locked" slowly follows it, depending on speed of the torso twist.
That is how it should be, effective, interesting and simple enough for everybody IMO.

It looks awesome. It's really milking the unreal engine.

I'm really just hoping both games are redic.

Mechwarrior Online has it's history going for it, and it seems like the devs are interested in a true, authentic MechWarrior experience.

Hawken seems like it can use it's lack of ties to the actual mechwarrior history to make some interesting changes and offer a different experience.

2012 and beyond is getting good for gaming.

Hawken seems like Quake with robots, which is cool enough, but personally I'm more interested in Mechs as tanks with plenty of systems to control etc.

Those screens look awesome! Especially like the cockpit view.

Yeah, have been following that as well. Not really related to this other than they both have mechs...and not sure why you're posting it here, considering the games have completely different playstyles and there are no recent updates on Hawken that would cause you to post that here... Hawken is MUCH closer to the AC series than the walking tanks of MW. I personally prefer the latter, but I'll be sure to give Hawken a shot.

I have never played a Mechwarrior game but I did play Multiplayer Solaris back on AOL...

Can you "leg" a mech and get called a scumbag for it? lol.

Have they announced the beta yet? certainly want to sign up for it.

I just signed up for the Warface Beta, but haven't been given access yet. It looks pretty dope too (and includes some mech style play)
