One concern though would be that I hope they really clamp down on griefing. You know there will be assholes who purposefully TK, it's the internet, it's a given.

You can look at WOT and how they do it. It's really not that prevalent and only occurs from time to time. It's actually very rare in my experience.

WoT addresses it very poorly. Flat out Tking is one thing, grinding next to a tank (in perspective, blocking the movement of a mech) is another. Further, they have HORRIBLE compensation values. I accidentally brush a small tank and I am fined a boatload of credits. If I am then one shot by an accidental friendly fire, I receive very few credits, normally not enough to repair my damn tank.

Man, I really really really wish this Mechwarrior game had a singleplayer campaign. The missions from the old Mech2 games were just so freaking fun, I want more of it, but updated to today's technological bells and whistles.

I'll give this game a try when it comes out, but multiplayer mech combat does not seem that fun to me. I imagine a bunch of giant robots circle strafing each other until someone blows up, which I would think be quite repetitive after a while?

Saw the Razer concept controller for this game. Wow, sort of want. Hopefully this game is good so I can justify buying a $400 controller for it.

Is there going to be PvE??? If they could use the MP maps to create some kind of L4D arcade scenarios, that'd be cool!

They supposedly fixed that. But yeah, obj 704 accidentally shoots me and I get 300 credits at the end of the round as compensation. WTF.

My main beef with online games is that people eventually and inevitably discover cheap tactics or bugs and exploit them ad nauseum. That really detracts from the fun of the game.

Yeah, but that could really appy to any online game. My main concern with this is that it will get boring pretty fast if it's just going to be arena style combat in open terrain. Maybe they can keep it fresh and interesting by adding objective based maps, like Rush mode in the Battlefield games. Or even allowing people to pilot more than just mechs.

I don't know, I just feel a bit disappointed with what I've seen so far of the gameplay footage.

I believe they are adding objectives, such as defend this base/ammo/equipment (if it gets blown up, you lose, if it is completely captured, the other team gains a bonus to exp/c-bill payout).

destroy your own ammo dump so the other team doesn't get the bonus!

I'm doing that every time when I'm clumped with mouth breathers.

I hope this doesn't disappoint.

The videos have me feeling meh about it. The lasers look boring. I feel like it's going to be a reincarnation of the exact same things we've seen in the past.

To spice it up I would like to see:
Flying specialists(like helicopters and jets in BF3)(air battles would be sweet)
Let's get some water action, submarine-like mechs.
Drone deployers
Transformers?
A 'mechanic' class mech specializing in EMP weapons and such.
Repair mechs

So far this feels like a World of Tanks clone which is fine and good, I like that game. I feel games lately have been stagnate though.

Except WoT came out in 2010 and Battletech came out in 1984 and the Mechwarrior series of video games based on it started in 1989.

However, I do agree with what you and others have stated about expanding the parameters of the game.

For example:

1. Allow people to join the Houses of the Inner Sphere or mercenary units. Start the game by dividing the map of the Inner Sphere up just as it looked in 3039 and give people the ability to assault enemy worlds. If certain objectives are achieved, the planet changes hands.

2. Aerospace would be nice, but I'd start with adding vehicles first.

3. Make it known that eventually the Clans will invade and have them start as NPCs. Players will have to band together to stop the Clan onslaught. Eventually, with enough XP or credits, players can begin creating Clan characters.

Lolwat?

The flying vehicles may be interesting since there are some in Battletech but they would more or less be really weak targets.

Lol, sounds like someone has never played battletech before.

If you're referring to me, nope, I haven't played it. My mechwarrior experience comes from three different games. One from the late 80's dos game that I won't ever remember the name of, Armored Core for the PS1 and a Mechwarrior game around the windows 95-98 era.

I'm not going to defend my ideas as if they are 'right' or 'wrong', I honestly don't care(especially since such a thing cannot really be measured). Good things can stem from ideas and imagination though, without that we get the same old game.

So if we want to keep this game true to its past as posts are suggesting, I really would like to know why adding new features and innovations would be bad.

I think it's funny how people will complain because game x is a clone of game y, then when new ideas are approached it's shot down because it's different.
