No, the 25% bonus is exclusive to the founders mechs, the founders mechs are just the prime variant of that class of mech that you can get in game. Founders for those mechs just get a unique skin and the 25% bonus. Statistically they are the same for gameplay.

So, the definition of 'founders mech' is the mechs in the packages, with skin and bonus, and you *can't* buy them after launch - only mechs otherwise the same.

People kept saying 'you can buy the founders mechs' or 'you can buy the same mechs', but you can't - only the same except for the skin and bonus, and they're not 'founder'.

Yup, they don't want to give any unfair in game advantages making it pay to win, so they will be the same mech except the skin and bonus. You can only get the founders mechs till August 7th (they *might* extend that but they can't say for sure) and they wont be available to get any other way.

Another. Bonus of the founder mech that you can't get by buying them is the permanent garage slot for them.

Yup and what class founders mech(s) you have unlock the variants for that mech automatically as well instead of having to buy the prime version of a mech to unlock its variants.

Not that I'm in the beta or anything...but I'm having a blast. In the Support forums we (well, one dude who tried different settings) managed to figure out what causes horrible single-digit fps to some folks and ever since I've been having a great time.

I spent $60 on D3 when it came out, grew bored of it pretty fast. $60 for Elite Founders, can't say I'm disappointed at all!!!
(Been waiting since EA pulled the plug on MPBT3025)

I just spent $30 on a game. If anyone would be willing to give me some advice I'd appreciate it!

bockie, read the beta forums stickies, lots of info.

On another note...I wish people would stop trying to play with joysticks. While spectating I see such horrible aim that it is no wonder my Commando died for nothing, harrassing the enemy team but getting little support. The support is there, it just can't hit a barn door.

With double armor and fast moving targets, the difference between mouse and joystick aiming is like night and day.

If I want to get a founder's pack, but possibly give the game to a friend later, is that allowed? How would it be done, make a new e-mail to register for it?

A joystick for moving and the mouse for aiming would be perfect!!

That doesn't even begin to make sense. Foot pedals for moving and mouse for aiming is where it's at. But really, keyboard is fine.

These are the "die hard" fans of Mechwarrior.
They buy the board games, they play the D&D style game with pen&papir, they own all the books for the series and know all the lore ect.

What they want? to experiance something as close to what it would be like to pilot a mech in that universe.

They dont care about the pvp score, or kill-ratio ect.
For them its just about haveing fun, and getting that experiance of the mech out of it.

But yeah.... they go to extremes sometimes

Ideally it would be setup with rudder style pedals controlling legs, joystick torso and throttles for speed with a reverse detent. Some joysticks have built in twist. But I could never get used to that when I used flight sim.

Joysticks are really only good when you need a constant amount of force applied (like in a plane pulling through a turn), not for discreet movements like aiming a mech torso. This is why a mouse is the best. (Admittedly, this can depend on how the game actually implements the torso movement and how strictly the "gyros" limit the aiming speed and precision. I haven't played a mech game in years, including MWO, where the way torso movement has been implemented is better with something other than a mouse, though.). Foot pedals would be great to control movement direction because A and D can only apply the maximum turning thrust. If you use a foot pedal, you can shove all the way to one side for maximum or only use a little bit to be able to do wider smooth turns. I think it's nice to have pedals with the up/down movement available also to control speed, since in mech games you tend to vary your speed a lot and you can actually feel and learn what angle produces which speed instead of relying on W/S and having to constantly check your set speed meter.

I see, I figured movement would be joystick and the turning of the torso and aiming mouse driven. So you could inch forward while still aiming. WASD is binary in nature so I like the more analog nature for movement a joystick could provide.

Not sure how MWO handles this though as I haven't played it yet. A mouse though is unbeatable for aiming in any type of game I've played.

Had a few decent runs w/ mouse and just the throttle, but not enough buttons to do everything, maybe a set of pedals would help but I ain't got that extra cash.

I'm a huge Btech fan as well the problem is that unlike MW4, MWO has an almost free-look aiming.

The way the crosshair moved in MW4 allowed use of joysticks and that game itself was generally simpler. I think it was similar to MW2/Mercs in that the crosshair was fixed and moved slowly, with both torso and arms aiming at that point. Now a mouse is just far superior in accuracy, like with MW3's freelook targeting.
