Now if they made a MMO loosely based around the battletech universe then that might work.
This + Blizzard working on "new IP MMO" could possibly = win?

thank god they are going back to 3025 era. That was the most interesting story point in the bt universe.

I wish they would make a mechwarrior game in a fallout 3 type sandbox. That would be awesome.
I really don't see how that would work.
You couldn't craft a Mechwarrior game around a sandbox world? Maybe I'm getting this confused with another game I played on the c64 long ago... Battletech maybe?
You fight battles in battletech games, they do not happen every day in any of the game universes. If you where to make it FO3 style you'd be playing for months doing boring mundane things to get to a battle. Perhaps if they make it into a totally unrelated game it could work.

The trailer looks promising but will have to wait to see how the actual game is at release. I'm guessing we wont see it this year so sometime in 2010? Also the year is 3015 and when the guy ejects towards the end there he uses a parachute? I would think given the supposed technology they'd have rocket suits by then instead of just parachutes.

I don't understand why some people are hating. I logged in especially to make a post about Mech Warrior. Do you realize that the new Mech is going to be incredibly good...

The mechs in the trailer seem a little oversized.
Possibly. If memory serves, something like an Atlas is only about 16 metres tall.
Still looks darn good though. That smoke sequence revealing the Atlas is rather ominous and well done.
16 meters is "only" about 4.5 stories tall. Judging by the trailer, right at the beginning the mech is standing next to a 4 story building. (It may be 5 stories, can't tell 100%) But the mech itself stands below the roof of the building, so scale appears about correct.

My scale for mechwarriors is based on the timberwolf where it's basically a cockpit with chicken legs. Can't be THAT huge. Even if the numbers say otherwise, I still don't think they should be that big. 2.5 to 3 stories tops.

Do you know the game I'm referring to?

In other PC gaming news, Smith and Tinker and Piranha Games are literally rebooting the MechWarrior series for the PC and Xbox 260. According to IGN, the last expansion released was back in 2002, however 7 years later, both companies have decided to follow the re-booting trend and start the MechWarrior series over from scratch rather than develop the official 5th installment. However, based on a recent video, the game is shaping up to be the best MechWarrior yet." -Tom's Hardware.

Well, different mechs are different sized. I think something like an oldschool nova would clock in at about 2 stories tall, but it's a lot wider - probably would have trouble squeezing through one of those streets. Gotta remember, we're never seen a mech in real life, so imaginary perception may be a bit skewed.

Mech in real life.
This is awesome news, I love MechWarrior.

atlas doesn't jump. I forget the name of the assault mech that can jump but I think its 85 tons. I guess you could mod the mech to do that but i think it would cost tons to move very little.
