Now if they made a MMO loosely based around the battletech universe then that might work.
This + Blizzard working on "new IP MMO" could possibly = win?
That would be awesome. Being able jump into planets in jumpships and take their sovereignty if you win. Each of the houses, and the clans could start off with their own space and the map of sovereign space would change as they fight each other. That would be cool. Pretty much the way I wanted to play the game with I owned the boardgame. (In fact, I made up a map with sovereignty on paper to play that way.)

I think everyone forgot about that
Thank you for reminding me though!
September 3, 2009 - Earlier today, IGN and its parent company were issued a cease and desist order from Harmony Gold, the co-copyright owner of the television series Robotech. The letter claims that the use of certain trademarked figures from the Robotech/Macross universe, of which MechWarrior 5 is a part of, is prohibited as a result of a prior settlement that dates back to 1996. Apparently, some of those trademarked figures appear in the trailer used by Pirahna Games in its announcement of the MechWarrior reboot earlier this year, and a request has been made for that trailer to be pulled from IGN.
This development puts the future of MechWarrior in jeopardy. A trademark dispute could derail the game's development. On the flip side, it could also simply result in specific characters, logos, or other trademarked material from being included in the final product.
IGN has contacted Piranha Games and Harmony Gold for further clarification.

Mektek is still shooting for an August release according to their latest post today. The release will be MW4: Mercs with MekPek 3.1 integrated. It will have an auto-update capability as well, which will make future mekpak updates much easier to install.

So much for the August release.
OK, now that I'm done flaming, some Old Guard farts set me off lol. Sorry, I'm a flawed human smile.gif
OK, here is what is left on the plate.
First of all, things are code complete. This means that the product, from a coding standpoint, is already ready to go.
But...
1) We are having issues with MTX. This product cannot be released until we are comfortable that it is stable.
2) Here are the remaining tickets:
MPX-5 UNRESOLVED Add MS Mechpack mechs to campaign
MPX-6 UNRESOLVED Mektek MP mechs to campaign
MPX-7 UNRESOLVED Mektek weapons added to campaigns
We are updating the campaign so all mechs and weapons become available. We hope to have this done this weekend. RKSharz is spearheading this and we hope to test this ASAP. We expect there to be adjustments in future updates.
MPX-28 UNRESOLVED Installer checklist
This is in progress. Hopefully we will get issues with MTX fixed soon.
MPX-20 UNRESOLVED Credits
Yeah we have to go over this. Alot of people have put in alot of work into this release, and they need to be accredited.
MPX-42 UNRESOLVED Memorial screens
We are taking out the Tenchi memorial, and replacing it with a tribute to Brian Bisson. Also, a nice preview of something you may like. Verybad is working hard on this.
That's about it. Tentative release is next weekend provided MTX is ready for the public.
Also, I added LTRI, HUD clocks from MP4. Also, some adjustments to improve lag issues that will greatly inprove online game play.
That's it folks, we are almost there!
We will start pushing this out as soon as these remaining issues have been addressed.

So basically aside from one bullet point in the installer, garbage/fluff is holding it up. Yay.

You don't think that a mod team that is working hard without pay to release a finished/working product doesn't deserve to have their hard work recognized in the credits?

A quick roll of credits, yeah. But a dedication video? Dude. Seriously? It's a friggin digital repack!

Negative... they are adding in all the MekTek content in the free release. It is a bit more than just a digital repack.

Everything they already had (mods) - it's a repack.

Did you miss the part where they are still trying to add the Mektek and MS Mekpak mechs and weapons to the campaigns? They weren't able to get that working prior to whatever code they were given for this release, and it's likely a non-trivial amount of work.
