I got to play the demo last night, took forever to get it downloaded.
I'm impressed. The freedom to go do what you wanted was so refreshing in a genre that had been reduced to go here, do this, follow this path and shoot some Nazis while you are at it.
The only thing I thought needed some work was the friendly AI, it would often go Rambo with Thompson blazing and get shot to bits for no real reason.

We must have played different demos...because i don't recall much freedom in the game.

You parachute from the plane and can land anywhere on the map, even rooftops. Then you can run around anywhere on the map and take out the targets in whatever order you want. Many of the houses and buildings were open for you to run through. What more freedom could you have?

Yeah, pretty much a I didn't really play this demo statement.

You drop from above the map via parachute and all the buildings in the villa have at least 2 entry/exit points.

Without even having to make an actual list, I'd fell more than confident in saying that this is in the top 5 of free roaming games.

I played through the demo twice and it played the same exact way both times.

jesus, you call 2 exits free roaming? I guess our definitions of free roaming differ. Oblivion was free roaming, this game is pretty much like all FPS games out there.

2 exits from every building where you can walk or land on every building, yeah I'd call that pretty damn freeroaming.

I skimmed gamespot's review quickly last night. They gave it a 7.0. Something about the first 3 zones/chapters being rather boring and the final 2 very good. Like I said I just skimmed it real quick and didnt really read it due to time constraints. Hopefully tonight I can sit down and read more details about the game. I hope its better than a GS 7 Rating.

That's disappointing but kinda good, one more game to scratch off my "to get" list. Oh well, getting tired of WW2 games anyways.

Stopped by CC and the chick there said it isn't released till tomorrow. She was reasonably hot so I didn't push the subject; just picked up an ad to possibly PM at BB.

As people get the game and play, could you fill us in on what the multiplayer is like and how it plays?

A couple buddies here at work want to get it but they want it more for multiplayer than anything else. Hopefully it shines in mutliplayer because I may get it just to play with them. I still havent gotten time to sit down and read up on the reviews.

I was exaggerating to show how powerful the Garand looks, jackass. Nice try though.

Owned.

Went into another CC on the way home today. They didn't have any out on the shelf, but when I asked the guy in the area he got me one from the back. Not sure why they don't have them on the shelf for the PC, the 360 stand had a dozen of them sitting there.

Game has a few annoying bugs.
If you have windows firewall turned off, the game will abort towards the end of the install with an error.
You have to turn on windows firewall even if you have it disabled to get the game to install.
Something about it wanting to put the settings in the firewall for the games multiplayer and if it can't it aborts.

Retarded. since I have a dedicated linux firewall. Had to enable the service again just to install.

Multiplayer has no dedicated server client.
So any multiplayer will be on someone elses pc as they play.
They say a new client will be out the 17th, but they are just now considering we might want a dedicated server client ?

My biggest gripe in game so far is the motion blur. Its way over used.
I got a headache just from playing , my eyes hurt from all the blurring.
The game itself as a whole seems fun, I'm on the 3rd mission with the tank at the beginning.

Its another unreal engine 3 game so there is no AA , except forced in the drivers.
And as another console port, you have almost zero options to adjust graphics and audio.

I'm really getting tired of console ports to the pc.

I'm running ZA with WFA off and had no problems on install, other than it taking like 20 minutes.

I did notice something in the manual about turning motion blur off/down for when you sprint, maybe try that?

I think the key is that you can have the firewall off , but the service must still be on.
I disable all services I don't explicitly need.

http://forums.ea.com/mboards/t...readID=276088&tstart=0
PLEASE NOTE: During the install, the installer attempts to add MOHA to the firewall exception list regardless if the firewall is enabled or not. This depends on the firewall service being available to windows. This service is enabled by default on XP and continues to run, even if the user sets the firewall status to off. If it is disabled completely in the services list, then we see the failure.

To enable the service: Start Menu -> run - > ?services. msc?

The name of the service is ? Windows Firewall/Internet Connection Sharing (ICS)?

To start it, right click on the service name and click ?Start? in the menu. Then proceed to install the game normally.

If you are unable to start the ?Windows Firewall/Internet Connection Sharing (ICS)?, ensure these services which it depends on are started, checking in this order:

- Remote Procedure Call (RPC) (The next two depend on this service)
- Network Connections
- Windows Management Instrumentation

There is a slider to adjust the blur effect of sprinting. Killing post processing effects in the setup menu seems to take out all the motion blur effects.

AI does seem more competent than in the demo. The in between load scenes are obscenely long (consoleitis?) and no way to ESC through some of the intro/load segments.

I've got 2 of 5 drop awards for the first level so far; unfortunately I didn't see anything in the manual about it.

the thought of doing combat drops in multiplayer alone is just about worth the price of the game

Well, just finished the game.
About 8 hours of gameplay on normal.
Really on the short side, but it does have replay value.

I think they did well on the games single player until the end.
The end of the last level basically ruined the game for me.
They resorted to the old, lets increase hitpoints on everything and throw as many as we can at the player, that and what they use at the end for soldiers really detracts from what was otherwise something semi - realistic to the time period.

When you get there you will see what I mean.
Soldiers that can take several rockets and still keep shooting.
shooting a soldier point blank and then having the soldier just stand there and continue shooting.

Sort of leaves the WWII era and ads a scifi element.

Yeah, I played through on Expert, loved all of the game except the very end where there's like 70 Nazi Storm Elites in Der Flakturm (the sewers have 8 in one place). On expert they kill you in like 2 hits. It took me about 15 hours to finish the game. It's a blast; I love dropping in on the area. Now to get all the medals! And skill drops.

I really want to buy this but I'll wait till it comes down in price.

MOH Pacific Theater is $9.88 at Wal Mart and I had a ton of fun playing that.

Just got to the punzerzug what do you need to use to knock out these MG monsters? Bran gun doesn't even make a dent.

P.S. Beaten it, cheesy ending indeed
