Am I the only one who thought BC2 had bad hit detection?

BC2 just had overly complicated hit detection. It took bullet travel into account which is what screws with so many people. Gamers are used to the floating camera that shoots lasers system of FPS gun mechanics. MoH uses this approach.

The BF series, at least starting with BF2, has always had bad hit detection. Something's wrong when you are 3 feet from an enemy and unload a light machine gun into him and he walks away.

New MOH blog post: Medal of Honor PC Servers

by Matt Pruitt, September 15, 2010
This article was authored with the help of the DICE development team.

Medal of Honor is quickly approaching it's release on October 12th and it's time to talk about multiplayer PC servers! Medal of Honor will operate on dedicated servers, and while the executable will not be released publically, servers will be available for rent through the following selected game server providers:

- 4NetPlayers
- Art of War Central
- Binarics
- BrainStorm Network
- Branzone Inc.
- Clan-Server.at
- Computer Games Online
- Diabolic Servers
- Dovermed
- Eliott Ness
- Fragnetics
- ForTeam.ru
- GameHosting.co.uk
- Gameservers.com
- Hosters.at
- Hypegamez
- Hypernia
- i3D
- iGame
- InnovaSoft
- KillerCreation
- LeetServers
- Low Ping Game Servers
- Mammoth
- MecaHost
- Multiplay
- MyInternetServices
- Newlight Systems
- Norsk eSport
- Nuclearfallout
- On3 Network
- Primary Target
- Rackage
- Telcom SA
- Web Africa
- XFactorServers

Anyone who rents a server will be able to control it through the game server provider's admin panel along with the game server's remote administration interface. The remote administration interface is a very simple command console, which will be included with the server's documentation. However, with that being said, it would be much easier to use one of the graphical clients that are developed by various independent tool developers.

We have offered the following developers pre-release access to the game client and server, in hope that their tools will be ready in time for the game's launch:

- MOHCC (by the creators of BC2CC)
- ProCon
- Big Brother Bot (B3)
- Other tool developers are welcome to join in as soon as the game has launched.

Now on to ranked and unranked modes. When the server runs in ranked mode, any score and awards that a player collects is reported to the master servers. The server administrator is required to abide by the "Rules of Engagement," so you and everyone else can enjoy an entertaining online experience. In unranked mode, no player progression is reported to the master servers. However, the server administrator has more control and can apply arbitrary game rules. All game modes support a maximum of 24 players.

Ok, because I was worried about Dice developing MOH. I all ready hear BF3 coming so there's going to be a lot of competition.

New MOH Blog Post: Take A Shot

by Eduardo Vasconellos, September 15,2010

IGN posted an exclusive hands-on preview today discussing a few levels from the Medal of Honor single player campaign, detailing some of the game flow and a few other story elements. "So far it’s fun," says Charles Onyett, resident Canadian at IGN. "It would seem EALA is trying to deliver a kind of action movie feel with a touch of realism in the sound design and visuals."

Onyett also cites the accuracy found within the game "Between firefights there are often dialogue sequences where decisions are made about where to go next," comments Onyett. "The dialogue here helps lend a sense of authenticity to the characters, who often shout during combat, calling out enemy positions and other threats worthy of attention, establishing a sense that they care about your well-being."

The preview also discusses in great detail the stages Charles played through, including a new level called Belly of the Beast, where you play an Army Ranger transported into a dropzone, a stage where you’re riding shotgun in an Apache gunship, and a sniper level, where you must take out enemy forces as a Tier 1 operator. "I'm told in total the single-player portion of Medal of Honor will offer around eight to ten hours of content and will be divided into multi-mission chunks that flow into each other and follow different protagonists," Onyett said.

As a cherry on top, IGN also premiered the next installment to our MOH Experience video series, titled Friends from Afar, featuring Medal of Honor Tier 1 operators Dusty, Deuce and a 50 cal. All you need to do is hit the play button.

The single-player campaign looks incredible and is the perfect setting; shooting Taliban in the hills of Afghanistan! Love it!

The multiplayer on the other hand, I've heard mixed reviews (from beta). Since DICE is developing it, I bet it's a reskinned BC2.

Anyway, I will be getting this on the first day!

Nah, nah, its called recoil. If your sitting in front of someone, unloading an uzi, vs unloading an M249 Saw, its 2 different stories. No offense, but you have to be REALLY bad to not get a kill that close unless you get caught off guard. Again, someone one said it above too, DICE takes bullet physics into consideration, unlike every single COD game.

New MOH blog post: Intel Report, Sept. 16

Intel Report, Sept. 16by Eduardo Vasconellos
September 16, 2010While scouring through the forums this week, I found a few questions that warranted answers. These questions are pretty common throughout the web, so, considering how frequent these questions crop up, I figured now is as good a time as any to track down the answers and shed some light on the situation, so I spoke to Gustav Halling, game designer at DICE, who was happy to answer your queries about Medal of Honor.

User “Ctrl_” made the request on the forums for a “switch team” function to be implemented to Medal of Honor’s multiplayer component. To answer the request, I found out that this feature won’t be available. When joining a round, players will join a dedicated server and will be automatically placed on a team. If there is an uneven number of players, auto-balance will adjust the teams accordingly. If you’re hoping to play with your friends, there is a “play with friends” option which will group a number of players together and will move them from round to round in a group.

However, for the PC version of Medal of Honor, players will have the option to switch teams, but you’ll only be able to do so if the number of players on a given server become uneven during a round of gameplay.

Our second question from the forums comes from user “DarthEclipse” who asks “what are all of the scorechain rewards?” Well Darth, I’m glad you asked. Mr. Halling was kind enough to provide us with the full scorechain awards list, detailed below.

MORTAR STRIKE
Laser designated mortar strike
Blast Radius: 7 meters
Damage in Center: 150HP

LEVEL 2: ROCKET ATTACK
Laser designated rocket attack
Blast Radius: 12 meters
Damage in Center: 150HP

MISSILE ATTACK
Player guided missile
Blast Radius: 8 meters
Damage in Center: 1,000HP

ARTILLERY STRIKE
Laser designated Artillery strike
Blast Radius: 12 meters
Damage in Center: 250HP

STRAFING RUN
Laser designated, calls in a Fighter that strafe runs a line of fire
Blast Radius: 12 meters wide in a straight line
Damage in Center: 200HP per bullet

AIR STRIKE
Laser designated, calls in 2 fighter that release a carpet mat of bombs
Blast Radius: 15 meters per bomb
Damage in Center: 250HP per bomb

CRUISE MISSILE
Player guided cruise missile that kills all enemies within radius
Blast Radius: 40 meters
Damage in Center: 1,500HP at center

As you can see, there are a lot of great things in store when Medal of Honor ships on October 12 – rest assured, this is just the tip of the iceberg, so order your copy today! If you have any other questions, don't hesitate to ask on the forums, Twitter, or Facebook.

The question I'm waiting for them to answer is "What are all the muliplayer game modes?". It's has to be locked down by now.

I think that's bull (about the game, not you). If they count recoil to have that much effect at 3 feet, and still show the gun barrel pointed at the person, then it's pretentious and over complicated. Fix it.

Just because they make the game overly complicated, does not mean it is realistic. And until they find a programmer and hardware capable of calculating real-time gun mechanics and physics I might hop on the BF bandwagon. It's a FPS, not a gun hunting simulator, then again, I guess we carry different values.

that's nonsense. dice even admits to hitreg issues in their BF games and has made it their #1 priority for the upcoming games, starting with moh.

There are problems with the hit detection in BC2, but it has gotten much better through patches. I don't care what kind of gun it is if you're 3 feet away you can't miss. Recoil or not. I remember when BC2 started you could be about 10 feet away shooting full auto and not hit anything on a stationary target. That's not recoil that's stupid. Even shooting full auto you can get a decent grouping with any gun from that range. You don't shoot bullets in a ten foot circle at something that is ten feet away, or even 20 feet for that matter.

Cruised the EA MOH forums to try to get more information on the multi-player.

Modes:

Some resourceful fellow already dug into the beta files and came up with these in them:

1. Clean Sweep
The all new Clean Sweep game mode.
Elimination style gameplay with no respawns and
improved spotting to discourage camping.

2. Combat Mission
Play Combat Mission, a story driven mode that
follows coalition soldiers as they try to clear a
chain of objectives.

3. Hot Zone
The all new Hot Zone game mode. King of the Hill-style
gameplay where you have to eliminate all enemies in
the central map area to gain score.

4. Objective Raid
Play Objective Raid, a mode where coalition defend two
objectives against insurgent saboteurs.

5. Sector Control
Play Sector Control, a Domination type game mode where
players fight to secure and hold sectors, represented by flags,
for score.

6. Team Assault
Play Team Assault, a Team Death Match like game where the
sides fight to reach a score to win.

There you have it, six game modes if their info's accurate.

Then they released the Xbox achievements in the game.

So, maybe just 4 modes?:

This would mean there are only 4 game modes for online. What the *? Where is "Clean Sweep" and "Hot Zone"? I know they haven't been confirmed, but if they are on the disc and DICE isn't releasing them until a later date, I'm going to be *. I was really looking forward to "Clean Sweep" as it sounds closest to Call Of Duty's "Search & Destroy". Maybe I'm jumping to conclusions, but I hated how they released "Mode Packs" for Bad Company 2. DLC does not count for things that are already on the disc.

Maps:

There were 10 maps listed in the beta files; that's all we have to go by at the moment. The maps did sound interesting and varied though. Some of them were in snow covered mountains while others were in dark caves.

Or is it 13 or 15?

cem_ea_id.Vergs94_ wrote:i thought it was 15 now?

I dont count the "Hangar" and "Shahikot Mountain" because i think they're just other descriptions for Bagram Hangar and Shahikot Mountains found in different files or something. But thats just me

News today: New multiplayer game mode, PC Open beta 04-Oct, system requirements.

New Multiplayer game mode: Objective Raid Video.

In this fifth installment (of The MOH Experience), we show off the new multiplayer "Objective Raid" mode. In this mode, insurgents swarm across the map to sabotage two objectives (Alpha and Bravo) using explosives, while Coalition forces must stop them and defend their installations.

Here at EA, we want to make sure our fans know that we're listening. That's why we've created The MOH Experience, a series of single-player and multiplayer videos put together to show our audience what they can expect when Medal of Honor launches on October 12th.

Video also includes new map. Looks like BFBC2 Rush with the addition of a time limit (as opposed to tickets).

PC Open bBeta info!

Basic Information

Grab your MREs and prepare to spend four days playing two new maps and modes for the multiplayer version of Medal of Honor. Anyone can download and play. All that is required is an EA Account when you launch the game and to accept the beta agreement.

Maps

Shahikot Mountains
A Chinook helicopter has crashed somewhere in the Shahikot mountains. These snow covered mountain peaks, called The Valley of the Kings in the local tongue, has been a rebel hiding place since ancient times. Python 1 is inserted to investigate and look for survivors in these eerie surroundings. As they embark from their helicopter they hear the first crackling sound of a sniper rifle roll between the steep mountain sides.

Kunar Base
The sector designated N2KL along the Afghanistan-Pakistan border is teeming with violent activity. A coalition forward operating base comes under attack as insurgents mount an aggressive assault. The remote hill top is slowly covered in smoke from constant artillery strikes as soldiers huddle in the maze like trenches.

Modes

Combat Mission
Combat Mission is an objective based game mode for online multiplayer where Coalition forces must clear five consecutive objectives while the insurgent forces must stop them from progressing.

I'm really interested to try out the new beta as the last one was very beta like. Hopefully the changes are able to make up the for the problems the other beta had.

I'll be hosting a server for this game via Low Ping Game Servers. It'll be called something along the lines of Free Beer and Wings.net MOH Server. It's a 24 slot server. Any of you who played on my BC2 server should know that LPGS is a pretty good host. Server will be in NYC

Exclusives
by Eduardo Vasconellos, September 28, 2010

With the launch date of Medal of Honor looming closer and closer, we keep hearing a slew of great questions, but lately, a lot of folks are asking about pre-order bonuses for Medal of Honor. To make sure our loyal readers are in the know, we tracked down some of the extras you’ll be getting based on the store you purchase your game from.

The Limited Edition of Medal of Honor comes with an exclusive coalition Spec Ops class skin, access to the MP7 SMG, the TOZ194 shotgun, the 870MCS shotgun, and an invitation to the Battlefield 3 beta. As an exclusive to PS3 owners, Medal of Honor: LE also comes bundled with a re-mastered version of Medal of Honor Frontline. If you’ve already pre-ordered the game and you’re not sure about your status, fear not; every copy of Medal of Honor that is pre-ordered is automatically upgraded to the Limited Edition, regardless of platform of where you bought it.

For those who have pre-ordered at GameStop, you’ll receive the M60 machine gun (the most elite Tier 1 weapon in the game) for multiplayer, and you’ll also be Tier 1 on day 1. When you pre-order Medal of Honor from GameStop, you will receive instant Tier 1 Operator status for the assault class, complete with a new skin in multiplayer, giving your avatar an elite appearance suited to the best of the best. To instantly be promoted to Tier 1 status, those who pre-order will be issued a code and instructions with your purchase.

Those shopping at Amazon.com can expect a $10-off voucher for a future video game purchase. This promotion code will be reflected on your Amazon account within two days after the game ships and is only issued when the item is purchased and shipped directly through the Amazon store. This credit can only be applied to other video games and will become visible after you have started checking out with your next purchase.

If you’re buying Medal of Honor directly through the EA Store, we’ve got you covered as well. When you pre-order, you’ll also be getting access to two exclusive light machine guns for multiplayer. Not such a bad deal, no? Be sure to keep an eye out for more Medal of Honor news along the way to its launch on October 12.

New MOH Blog Post: Multiplayer Change

by Greg Goodrich
October 1, 2010

In the past few months, we have received feedback from all over the world regarding the multiplayer portion of Medal of Honor. We’ve received notes from gamers, active military, and friends and family of servicemen and women currently deployed overseas. The majority of this feedback has been overwhelmingly positive. For this, the Medal of Honor team is deeply appreciative.

However, we have also received feedback from friends and families of fallen soldiers who have expressed concern over the inclusion of the Taliban in the multiplayer portion of our game. This is a very important voice to the Medal of Honor team. This is a voice that has earned the right to be listened to. It is a voice that we care deeply about. Because of this, and because the heartbeat of Medal of Honor has always resided in the reverence for American and Allied soldiers, we have decided to rename the opposing team in Medal of Honor multiplayer from Taliban to Opposing Force.

While this change should not directly affect gamers, as it does not fundamentally alter the gameplay, we are making this change for the men and women serving in the military and for the families of those who have paid the ultimate sacrifice - this franchise will never willfully disrespect, intentionally or otherwise, your memory and service.

To all who serve - we appreciate you, we thank you, and we do not take you for granted. And to the Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen and Marines currently serving overseas, stay safe and come home soon.
