I hope this game fails at retail. What a stupid, derivative idea to just copy COD and BFBC2 and add another modern warfare game to the ones we have already.
What hilarious is that BFBC2 was supposed to be a mix of MW2 and BF2, which it pretty much was, with the weapon customization and player perks. Now they want to copy MW2 even more because "OH HAY LOOK HOW MW2 SOLD EPIC MILLIONS OF COPIES I GUESS IF WE COPY IT AND MIX IT WITH BFBC2 THEN WE WILL GET MORE SALES THAN BFBC2 AND MW2 COMBINED!!11"
The idea of a game about present day warfare was actually awesome when COD4 came out. Now I'm so sick of firing the same boring M4s and Ak47s that I can't stand any modern warfare shooters. It truly is the new WW2 for games.
Even Halo feels more innovative and I never though I would say that.
errrr. you know that medal of honor is by the same folks that have done the whole battlefield series right? EA? and quite honestly, mw2 sucked. no dedicated servers? no thanks. bfbc2 was based on bfbc1, which was a console spin off of the battlefield series, with some humor in it. the single player campaigns of both were great, something you didn't have in the battlefield series before. not really a mix of bf2 and mw2 at all, just where they went in the battlefield series. if you think the cod guys invented the idea of customizable weapons...well...no. personally i think cod did better in the ww2 era of things, and should have stayed there. they decided to try and cash in on the battlefield popularity by going modern warfare. cod always had more of a cs type of fighting than the larger more epic scale of the battlefield games. although both were fun.
also, this isn't as much about modern military warfare as a new dimension of it. the spec ops guys, operators i guess, who seem to operate a bit outside of standard military warfare. that said, it could be completely different when released, but that's the vibe i got from it.
honestly i can't wait to see battlefield 3. i am hoping they rekindle some of the magic from battlefield 1942 and battlefield 2, instead of trying to make things more hopped up on crack like counterstrike is. the multiplayer in bfbc2 is a decent mix of both, but it's just missing something from bf2 and even desert combat.
i do have to say tho, i've been playing stalker lately, and it is way more innovative than anything else i've played lately. of course, it's not a "modern combat shooter" either.
