Media collusion with the Clinton campaign is not good for our Democracy

Regardless of how you feel about the candidates the media collusion with the Clinton campaign as evidenced by all of the recent email dumps should be worrisome for all of us. We rely on journalist to be our government watchdogs, and their independence is critical to a fully functioning democracy. There's been plenty come out that shows some of our leading news organizations being a bit too cozy with Clinton staffers, given this how can they adequately fulfill their role as watchdogs?

That's not the mainstream media that millions of Americans are watching in their homes every night. ABC, NBC, MSNBC, CBS and CNN are not telling the whole story, they're hiding, by omission, the truths about the Clintons. I have no problem with them reporting on Trump...have at him. I long for the days, where they just reported the information on candidates, no matter who it was. Ugly is absolutely correct in his opinion about the media. They are purposely trying to choose our next president.

It is an extraordinarily difficult issue to tackle (similar to Citizens United) but I do think we have a much better environment than in the past with the Internet providing an easier access for free speeches by citizens.

This. If collusion is a problem now, you just have to look at government involvement/propaganda during the Cold War and earlier. The problem is gradually solving itself with evolving technology; more options, more viewpoints, people watch what they want to.

Trump won't even release his tax returns and we are only finding out that he is a sex offender who likes to grab pussy without consent in the final weeks before the election. The media didn't elect the nominee. there is no such thing as right / left wing journalism. If they report from a position of bias the are no longer journalistic and just mere propoganda. If the actual journalists dug a little deeper perhaps Trump wouldn't be candidate, but I doubt it.

As I've said on here many times he's been nominated not based on his policy's or qualifications, but rather the fact that he's a bull in a china shop. They want to destroy Washington is the nuts and bolts of it. That's why he's been teflon to anything he's said or done - it doesn't matter.

That one is kind of weak tbh. The NYT and others do "puff pieces" or whatever they're called all the time. I'm fairly certain I could Google and find ones about GWB, McCain, Romney, Paul Ryan, etc reminiscing on their childhoods and trying to make themselves appear more personable. Asking the campaign about the planned publication, and the campaign asking to nix one sentence Clinton made about Palin doesn't really strike me as collusion. Like, is there currently an unspoken rule that news agencies always report every sentence an interviewee makes?
