I have (2) systems, one is running WinME and the other Win98SE. Both have Media Player 7 installed. The ME system has a Kenwood 72X TrueX drive and the 98SE system has an AOpen 48X. I started getting this message with the Kenwood player about 2 weeks ago win I pop in an audio CD:
approx quote: "Media Player cannot read the audio data from this drive in digital mode. It will now switch to analog mode so that you can still listen to music CDs however, you will loose certain features such as visualizations, equalizer and SRS features."
Then a week later, the 2nd system with the AOpen drive starting doing the same thing. I know that both CD drives in both systems were able to play digitally for a period of time, but I just started noticing this message in the last week or two. I have NOT installed similar software on both systems in the last couple of weeks so I can't blame it on an overwritten driver or something.
Has anyone else ever heard of this problem with Media Player and do you know the cause or a fix? I believe the Kenwood and AOpen drives are capable of being read digitally. I also looked on the MS knowledge base and was unable to find anything.
