If hes serious about this he should research the regulations in his state regarding medication in prison. States vary widely about that. Couple of people in my diabetes support group have prison experience and they didn't get insulin in prison - which can be a death sentence.

Best to your friend. Tough situation. Hope all goes well.

Prison route sounds perfect for him.
I'd rather live in jail than die a painful death in freedom.

And I'm sure jail isn't as bad as people make it sound.

This is exactly his mindset. He doesn't believe everyone is out to rape him and that everyone has AIDS. He is looking into a minimum security prison and working with an attorney (did I say attorney?) to find a minimum security punishment for something.

Sometimes you become unhireable when you have a pre-existing medical condition. Employers don't want to pay the increase in premiums.

I wouldn't want to be a place that had those practices.
Part of why I am working where I am now is that they cover nearly everything 100%. So that if I would need medications, transplants( if I stay where I am now long enough this will happen) or anything it get covered with minimal to no cost to myself.

But to be on topic I would check the laws in the state he's in to see what gets covered if anything. Though if he has an attorney that has probably already been done.

....yeah, I have a hard time believing he found an attorney to help him plot some crime that would be just right for minimum security prison. Calling all kinds of bullshit on that one.

I agree. The lawyer would be asking to be disbarred if it ever came out that he helped a client decide what kind of crime to commit...

OP, just tell your friend to go rob a bank and shoot it out with the cops. Cancer problem fixed.

Even better, go to an interview, record them asking about any major health issues, wait til they don't hire you, sue for a shit ton of money.

I've read about a handful of cases where people needed expensive treatments that they couldn't afford so they committed crimes that would get them a short amount of time in jail.

Oh yes, I forgot, all attorneys tell the truth and obey the law. Much harder these days to find an honest attorney than a dishonest one.

Why would an employer put themselves in hot water by asking such a question?

What, and it's so easy to find an attorney willing to be a co-conspirator to a crime?

Let him die. We're all tired of all this damn socialism getting healthcare to the sickest of people who bleed the country dry.

Yep. Better still, anyone who isn't white or always votes straight Republican should be euthanized. It's the New American Way! We almost finished off those hippie native americans, we should just apply those same principles today. Even white folks who make less than $100k a year are worthless and should be disposed of quickly as they're just a burden on true patriotic conservatives.

/typical right wing thoughts

I don't know about that, your plan may go too far. While it would make sense to ensure the chronically sick and elderly were humanely euthanized, not necessarily everyone in the sub-6 figures category is a drain on America. Some of them are, but only because we enable them to by extending all of this socialism in the form of foodstamps/social security/medicare and caid ect. If we just did away with all the socialism and allowed nature to take it's course the sickest drains on our economy would be purified from the system while the lazy ones that remain would be forced to actually become contributing members of society.

Being poor does not exclude people from having a place in society in and of itself. (who else is going to make my Ipad?) It's just a role of obedience and service, not one of causing dissent and placing a disproportionate amount of hardship upon the constantly abused job creators already taking the majority of the blunt of the tax burden.

there are plenty of instances of people dieing because of poor/lack of care in prison or jail. and if he gets sent to a corporate prison and not a state run one, he can kiss his ass goodbye. profit is more important than quality care of prisoners. the will cut corners when ever possible.

Sick people aren't the problem with this country. Please do not reproduce and further taint the genetic pool.

Yea, that life part is the least important of the inalienable rights imo. We should just be rid of it. Unless it's for a couple of cells in some woman then we have to murder for it!

There are more attorney out of work now then ever before. Very few are making $300 per hour. Most are working at Home Depot and driving cabs to get by. Very easy to find a disperate attorney. Just go to Home Depot.
