same, the only times I will finish a steak is if it's a small 6oz filet or something. Anything larger than that will usually be brought home. People eating all these appetizers, desserts, sides, AND steak... Seems like you're eating enough calories to last you 2 days.

My 20-25 year old self would eat everything on the table. These days I'll eat like 4oz of a steak and the rest goes home. Unless we're doing Kbbq in which case I will fuck that meat counter up

An 8 oz rib eye, according to Google is about 660 calories. Now, that is an estimate, as it can't take into account the fat content and marbling. That is a tad less than a single meal if you're eating 1/3rd of your daily calories (assuming you're eating 2000 per day). Let's say you had a light lunch (something I generally do if I am going to be eating out that night, as I will eat more than a single 8oz steak >_>), you increase that allowance.

In order to each enough calories for 2 days, you need around 4,000 calories. Sure, it isn't impossible, but it isn't likely to happen for most people. For what it's worth, even if you order a bottle of champagne and consume the entire thing, that only adds an additional 550. Don't ask how I have that memorized. =)

Quality steak cooked medium rare is the way to go. Lower quality steak I prefer medium.

Also doesn't counter the butter used at some places.

Lol, Angus is good, but no better tasting than Hereford. Imho Hereford is consistently better.

Angus breed was just marketed better.

who the fuck orders almost $100 worth of sides? The lengths you go to try and play off your bullshit MANO attitude is just sad.

You are a very angry person.

It's MINO (Money Is No Object) BTW.

A couple each ordering a salad, a side of vegetables and a potato/starch option with a steak is hardly out of the ordinary and actually quite common. The sides end up being $100 because that's the pricing of the menu.

One usually doesn't go to a high end restaurant and just order a single entree and a cup of water.

Anywho, just a couple salads, that 18oz steak, a 9oz Filet for a partner and a couple sides of asparagus with tax and 20% tip would come out to almost $250.

I guess if your partner doesn't eat you can save a few bucks.

He is angry and clueless and trying to debate how much a dinner at one of these places usually costs someone.

Most places don't even have just a 6oz steak.

By better, do you mean comes with a side of Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease?

I've actually never had Hereford, to my knowledge.

Wow, are you a bird in real life?

Most people going out to a steak house would not just order a 6oz piece of meat and be done with eating.

Not everyone finishes everything they order either.

Many that train would use this as a cheat meal.

Ain't nobody got time for money!

Also, MINO is not a thing. He made that shit up to sound cool. He failed.

MINO is a thing at least around here, maybe not a popular expression everywhere in the country, but then again Chicago sells a cheese casserole as pizza.

Medium Rare here, anothing above Medium in heathenism.

I forget were I saw the restaurant someone ordered a steak well and the chef basically out what amounted to a blackened hockey puck.

Lots of places down here offer 6-8 ounce filets for retirees on early bird special type things etc.

Not a thing anywhere. Urban dictionary even states such: Mino - An adjective to describe a very fabulous individual who enjoys donkey rides into town and bananas peeled by Naomi Campbell. The other definitions are far less humorous (Marine in name only; mod in name only; slang for a nap). Nobody says that in reference to how you are claiming. It isn't the new YOLO.

TBH I have seen a 6 OZ filet on some menus

Not at the higher end steak houses usually a 8-9oz filet is the smallest cut.

I am sure some have a 6oz in a filet, but the only 6oz steaks I usually see are at the TGIF's style places like Roadhouse, Longhorns, etc and that is mostly to right size the pricing of the menu to lower budgets that still want a nice steak...they will even have 6 oz lesser cuts like sirloin.

It's just not very common and anyone really going out for just a steak at such a high end place would not consider themselves satisfied at 6 oz.

He is trying to rationalize against my argument.

If I talked about the 20 course meal at Hard Rock, Ibiza that's $2000 a person, his mind would be blown.

I hate it when I order medium rare and it comes out more medium. I just order rare to be safe now.

Didn't know Urban Dictionary was the new Webster's.

If I add it to UD, would you feel better?

Always best to ask the server how they prepare at that temperature. I have found many places don't follow the common chart. Many lower-end steakhouses almost always overcook.

Apparently, NS1 posted the menu for a TGI Fridays earlier, as they have a 6oz filet (and a 7 and an 8) on the menu.
