Grain Finished Beef or Grass Feed Beef? Which is better?

If both are USDA Prime, then it's personal preference. They probably work out to the same tastes though. I never gotten that 'deep'.

Usually (all other things considered) the cost of a steak will really have a big effect on how good it is (within reason and I think this caps out around the $30-40 mark on average for an average steak of average size).

It makes the meat slimy and tough to chew. I don't like slimy, I want something substantial I can bite into.

I hate gooey, lifeless food in general and don't understand people who eat undercooked eggs.

Your man card needs revoked.

Go eat "live food" :awe:

Try Rattlesnake

I like mine charred on the outside with a cool red center. Anything more and it's overdone.

I had prime rib at a reputable restaurant this past weekend and I opted for medium rare while my friend got the same at medium. I couldn't stomach anymore leaving about a quarter of the steak. It was too red, too fatty in parts, and just not visually appetizing. I did my best. I think medium is actually the way to go.

I do order burgers medium rare and it doesn't look like that steak did. But that's probably because the burgers are actually cooked to medium - there's a lot less red.

On the other hand, runny eggs are all kinds of awesome. Blood... not so much.

Incorrect on all accounts. It isn't blood, the fat content has nothing to do with how it is cooked, and a brown piece of leather is far less visually appealing than something like NS1 posted from CUT.

You think blood is icky to consume, but will eat runny chicken goop with placenta?

snake taste like sea eel.

Rattlesnake was just too stringy for me. I didn't enjoy the texture of the meat itself. It didn't taste awful, although, every occasion I've had it, it was deep fried.

the best cuts of choice is a better buy than the worst cuts of prime.

I may be wrong, but doesn't the USDA rate the animal overall, and not specific cuts? If that's correct that this is certainly sage advice because a "prime" carcass is better than a "choice" carcass on average but individual cuts may vary from the stated grade.

That is true, to my knowledge. The entire carcass is graded, not individual cuts.

OP is right, medium rare steaks are disgusting. Anything past rare is overcooked.

Op is right, medium rare steaks are disgusting.

You are wrong.

Anything past bleu is overcooked.

If it doesn't wiggle and have a pulse it was done wrong. As a friend says, "Knock off the horns, wipe its butt, and put it on a plate."

Well I will only eat well done and often burnt to full black perfection. Also lean meat with Bison being an amazing meat.

I know about the fat; I never said I wanted brown leather; and YES, especially when mixed with egg whites. The pic posted is too borderline red for me, especially that middle slice. I would eat it, but not without a 2nd thought. Like I said, I tried but couldn't continue anymore. At this time, I'd like to also make my disgust for seafood known - I don't like eating sea insects whole or ripped apart by hand. This is why a huge slab of barely-cooked beef is borderline.

So Cal meeting would have to be at Maestro's imho. Steak's are top top level and the Gorgonzola Mac & Cheese is beyond words. Teh female I took hates Blue Cheese but she ended up destroying it after I forced her to take a bite.
