I prefer straight medium. Personally i cooke closer to medium rare, but most places you order from seem to cook medium rare closer to rare and just do a quick burn of the outside.

Medium rare is my preferred, so long as it's a very good cut, otherwise medium.

I love soft boiled eggs and the occasional raw egg with a bit of hot sauce and fresh ground black pepper. The thing with raw eggs is to chew them and taste them, not let them slide down your throat like a giant loogie.

Well done for me. I prefer burnt edges but I'm super picky about steaks, most places like Texas Roadhouse or Outback don't come close to the cuts certain butchers get and a good smoker. Otherwise I won't eat steak.

I prefer my steaks as easy to chew (or tender) as possible. I'm pretty sure medium rare is the perfect amount of done-ness for that. Any less, its tougher to chew. Any more, its tougher to chew. So this thread kinda does not compute.

Rare can have mushy and slimy like texture. So can medium rare. Temp range for medium rare is pretty wide.

As for raw fish, you can have something slimy and mushy to something really firm and chewy. Totally depends on the type of fish.

I can eat raw fish plain but I can't do the same for beef. Raw beef has to be seasoned before I can eat it raw.
