Has anyone faced this problem with this EVGA X58 Mobo (132-BL-E758-A1) and the Prolimatech - Megahalems CPU Cooler - 775 / 1366 / 1156 - Rev B heatsink? I bought this thing from Jab-tech and opened a problem ticket with them. What heatsink can fit on this one for my i7 build with dominator memory sticks? Please assist. I have a microcenter nearby (in Maryland) and look up there as well.

What is the precise clearance issue you are having with your setup? Is it the heatsink/ fan interfering with the tall heatsinks on the Corsair memory sticks or is there something around the socket preventing installation?

IF you're trying to install 6x sticks of Dominators, then no they will not fit. Not many high end ones will. I can think of maybe the Cogage Truespirit (which IMO sucks due to retention mech).

But Megahalems will fit 3x sticks of Dominators fine on the 758. I ran it with 2 fans for a while.

The issue is with the aluminum plate that secures the sink to the mobo have screw holes that are of different size and distance than what the base adaptor has. See someone also complained about it on newegg.

I am not putting a fan on the memory stick size but on the other side towards the rear exhaust fan. The air flow is pulling air from the sinks and sending it to the rear exhaust.

It fits. You're doing something wrong, as is he There are obviously a couple of ways of putting on the aluminum retention plates as they have 2x holes - they are designed to fit 1156 sockets as well. I've had the Megahalem on and off a million times on my 758 and 760.

The spring screws are also not of the same size as the holes on the mounting plates. They don't fit. can someone tell me what are the couple of ways to attach the retention plates to the sink? Help much appreciated.

PS: Are you putting the rivetted side up (opposite to what is shown in installation diagram) to fit this?

I thought the hole spacings on a X58 MB were equi-distant to each other (i.e. to each corner of an imaginary square), so you can orient the HSF which ever way best fits on your MB and inside your case.

Edit: After a bit of thought, I think I know what you have done wrong.

You have mounted one of the aluminum strip adapters the wrong way.

Aluminium strip adapters (two of them):

Here's a diagram to show how they and the mounting plate should be fitted:

This is physically what it should look like:

Edit: Obviously, you can rotate my diagram and the pic by 90 degrees, if you so wish, so that the HSF is orientated a different way.

Thanks everyone and especially daw123, I got it working now. And at stock setup,CPU is idling between 25-28c and on load between 45-49c. Hopefully, these temps are good.
Thanks again for all the help. It was indeed an user error. My apologies.
