I love the Trump campaign's response to this. They were "common words." I'd love to see a college student try that line on a professor.

Wait until you see their pivot. They've already blamed the issue on Clinton and are saying, she once again, is going after a woman who is threatening.

Why is everyone ready and eager to give Melania a pass? I agree with Reid's comments below. I also find all the "oh she did a good job reading it" insulting to her. As if she isn't capable of writing or checking over a speech herself.

Hallie Jackson on Tuesday morning asked MSNBC contributors for their reactions to Ms. Trump’s speech.

“I’ll start by quoting a guy called Tom Nichols, who’s a conservative and very prominent on Twitter, who said, ‘Ask yourself if Michelle Obama would have been given a pass had she done the same thing in 2008?'” Reid began.

“I think we’re all very quickly passing the responsibility onto staff. Clearly, this is a campaign that is poorly staffed. I think that has been clear for a long time. But they sent Melania Trump over to Matt Lauer to say that she wrote it [the speech].”

Reid turned her attention to her colleagues: “But we’re immediately dismissing the idea that she had anything to do with it. I doubt that we would dismiss the idea that Michelle Obama had anything to do with it.”

“She’s an adult woman,” Reid continued.” She’s grown up. She has participated in the delivery of this speech. She gave the speech. So I think you have to give responsibilty — sure, to the staff, the campaign management has been poor here — but Melania Trump did give the speech and Michelle Obama wouldn’t have gotten a pass.”

So its only plagiarism if the words are "uncommon"?

This entire episode is a window into how a Trump administration would(not) function

Lol, hilarious. It wasn't even Hillary's camp that found it, it was some random freelance journalist who tweeted it. I like how it's Hillary's fault because she supposedly illuminated the issue and not Trump's for actually perpetrating the bogus speech.

I heard one of the pundits say something funny. They said they felt sorry for Trump's surrogates because they had to demean themselves to spew Trump's idiotic response. Remember Huma Abedin going around all the shows during Benghazi saying it was a youtube video while everyone cringed? Reminds me of that, but even more idiotic because it is so damn apparent.

Christie said it wasn't plagiarism LOL, down with the ship.

The concept of branding seems to elude you.

Do you know anything about what happened in Libya and Hillary's role in this debacle which has caused massive death and human suffering?

Never in my life did I swear allegiance to Libya.

And if you're mad at 4 americans being dead, how about 4000 Americans who have been hurt by hate attacks due to Trump or 40,000 Americans who don't have limbs due to the Iraq war?

If you want to blame Hilary's vote.. she's only 1 vote, she didn't con us. The stuff would have passed regardless, It was 77-23. Would 76-24 have made a difference in your rhetoric? nope.. so it's a wash.

They dont see any of this. Especially the part about the president lying to congress to get them to vote to go to war.

....If you deny it enough and try to make yourself out to be a victim, you'll split the consensus that you are guilty of something and generate enough doubt to keep moving forward.

That's the part that depresses me if I dwell on it. It's like the Iowa Rep that just spouted about white Christians and civilization. Is he really that far off the reservation? Or is he smart like a fox and knows that as crazy as it sounds to educated people, it plays to his constituency so he goes with it.

You're completely clueless as to what I'm talking about. I guess I shouldn't be surprised. Here's a "hint".

I'm sure it's been retracted by now, but why would anyone in their right mind take a speech that was written for them, and insert 2 plagiarized paragraphs in the middle? That person would have to be really stupid, else doing that intentionally.

That's probably the best part - in only a small way, it shows the mindset of so many of the Republicans.

As of 4:35 Eastern time it has not been retracted infact the doubled down on the media & Hillary'sfault. I agree its insanity to think Malania slipped those in.

you can stop beating around the bush trying to pretend Hilary lied and murdered. American lives are lost, it is sickening the right wing propaganda are still trying to gain political points using Lybia and Benghazi.

Republicans want to crucify Hilary for her vote on the Iraq war, but they keep voting back the same idiots who voted the same. Come on people, the double standard is on you.

I think it's all Obama's fault. Michelle Obama time traveled into 2016 and stole Melania's speech as her own.

Now that I think about it, it is absolutely brilliant!

Just read a pretty hilarious comment that I can't believe I didn't think of myself: the parts she stole for her speech are ones that talk about the benefits of honesty and hard work.

That's amazing.

Nah, just breezily not thought through, is my guess.

It does amaze me how many here relentlessly attack Hilary on the honesty issue while never saying a peep about The Donald, who's by far the biggest, the most shameless, the most consistent liar there is. He outdoes Reagan, and like Reagan, lies so often and so easily it's apparent they both came to believe their own lies. That's one scary Twilight Zone.

People like this don't see what they say as matter of fact or fiction but rather means to an end.

Does it really matter? I mean are there any people left in this country who will change how they vote based upon this particular incident? I am afraid the answer is zero.

Anybody who is still undecided, needs to surrender their citizenship.

This is pure entertainment show and by tomorrow we will be all talking again about Kardashians or Hiddleswift or Kanye West.

I do. It's not just a "silly little speech", it's a speech by the wife of a man who wants to lead the most powerful nation on this planet. If Michele Obama had done the same thing conservative sirens would have been going off coast to coast. You know damned well they would too. It also matters because it speaks to the level of honesty and the amount of effort her husband would put into leading the country.

Little to none, just like her.

PS: You should have gone to Benghazi!, it's the theme from the first night of the convention... Lame diversion attempt - 0/10

The points of discussion are like what 3 small common phrases that were used even before Michelle Obama used them... So actually she also plagerized those phrases.

Much ado about Nothing....

She gave an excellent speech. 99.999% which was Not "Plagerized".

How do you explain how she's polling in the truthfulness issue?

So you are presented with an in depth analysis of the actual truthfulness of each candidate, which clearly shows that most of what comes out of Trumps mouth is an outright lie, and you just swat it aside in favor of polling numbers? You do know what TRUTH means dont you? How many people choose to believe it is irrelevant.

There is no equivalency here. Most of Hillary's statements are true, and most of Trump's are false. That is a simple fact. Now the next step in your playbook is of course to attack the people doing the analysis, but you wont find any reputable group claiming to be political "fact checkers" that would disagree with this analysis.

Both posted at the same time, "great minds" 'n all. Hey 'possum, it's a Moose and Squirrel mind meld!
lol Great!

She's also like one of five attractive women in the world with that accent on whom it is not sexy.

You know what's even more ironic? Trumps VP pick was all for overthrowing Qaddafi.

With rare exceptions such as Rand Paul or Bernie Sanders, the two parties are truly one on foreign intervention. They beat each other up over it, but do the exact same things when in power.

Because she's a piece of fluff, even more so than is Michelle Obama.

Trump Campaign is blaming Hilary for the plagiarism accusation. This is getting better by the hour.

Now she is Crooked Hilary who murdered Americans in Benghazi, intervened Lybia unlawfully, used illegal email servers, and plagiarized speech for Trump. Brilliant GOP!!!
