I remember interviewing my uncle, a white, 50 year old banker, for a business ethics class in the 90's. He used the phrase "your word is your bond"; I don't think he was a Wu Tang fan, although I could be wrong.

Same here. The conventions stopped being interesting, when all the outcomes were decided before the conventions began. Now they are more like rah-rah cheerleading media events.I'll vote for Trump but I can't stand conventions and political speeches for more than a few minutes. I think all politicians "Rick roll" us with the most common denominator traits of every successful person in history.
I'm never surprised by the pablum in a political speech, only by the long time they take to say it.
