Doubtful, Melo and Amar'e are two serious ballhogs who play no defense. Put them in a system with a coach who doesn't know how to spell defense, and you have a perhaps high scoring team that will sell merchandise. Hell, that's all they really care about up there, the NY teams leave it to the other franchises in that region to win.

Um - you put Chris Paul on that team - or Deron Williams after next season - and yes, that's a powerhouse team. D'Antoni's system gets plenty of shots for everyone.

As for 'gutting the team' - are you serious? Mozgov is a stiff, Danillo is ok, but he's not Carmelo - at this point Felton for Billups is perhaps a down-grade, but remember that Billups is a placeholder for them to take a shot at Deron/CP3 after next season - and in order to sign Anthony in the off-season, they would have had to let go of Chandler anyway - Curry is a give-away - and was perhaps the worst contract in the history of the NBA - and Anthony Randolph is, and will forever be, a big tease - immense physical talent - pea-sized brain.

I think it's all good for NY, and I think it's puts them on par with Chicago as the 4th/5th best team in the East right now - with the aging of the Celtics, they are in line to move up on that list next season

I think it will be interesting to watch Denver unload more players - and now the Nets probably will as well.

Turned into a farce? The Lakers and Celtics have combined for 34 NBA titles out of something like 64. It gets even worse if you look at recent history. A handful of other teams are also repeat winners. The rest of the league might as well not exist.

He was going to be a FA and free to leave on his own - you do realize that, right? This way, Denver received something in return and Melo got the many extra millions that he probably doesn't deserve.
