Memorex 4x2x24x CDRW clearance for $50 at staples

When I saw this thread, I thought wow! $30 for a burner, doesn't matter if it is an "mediocre" brand for that price. Now, after further investigating, WRONG! Depending on how much one puts credence in opinions at userreviews.com, this drive runs for a while, and then has problems. Coasters, shipping back and forth to Memorex, and no toll free support would negate any savings IMO if these drives are like the ones I read about. Tempting. ???

Yeah, it's hard to comment on the quality of the products....I bought quite a bit of Memorex stuff at CompUSA (luckily there's not much reason to go to CUSA now) a few years ago when it they would have so many items free after rebate....of course Memorex doesn't manufacture much at all, just repackages items, but overall I've had pretty good luck with their items. The ratings don't look good on this burner, but then again not many who have liked the drive will post....on my main computer right now I have a ZipCD 12x4x32....I love the drive but never have posted on it...I guess what all this means is that for $30 I didn't want to pass on it, and I'm hoping my order goes past the processing stage. It is sure hard to tell how many they had in the first place, but they have to send it to me UPS so I'm assuming I could get it from a main warehouse...

I tried to order one but all out guys. I guess some one got them all. However, I have one which I am not using and it is brand new. Email me if you want to buy it. I have never use it so I would not know how to comment on it. It was given on my birthday when this thing was still $149.99. If anyone interested I have post the sale on the for sale forums.

I ordered a few, three to be exact. I got one email telling me they were out of stock, another saying my order was ready to ship, and a third telling me all of my orders were cancelled. Oh well. Thanks for the heads up on a great bargain! (Too bad alot of us couldn't get it to go) BTW, can we still use the coupons that were used on a cancelled order? Justa newbie question I guess.

I ordered two under two seperate orders.

I never recieved any e-mails of any kind - no order confirmation, no cancellation, no shipping.

I ordered a Memorex scanner earlier in the week, and same thing - no e-mails from Staples. But, I recieved the scanner the next day.

Anybody get delivery of this drive despite no order confirmations?

I placed two orders for one per order. Both show to have shipped and all I got was a confirmation of order placed on one. They both show as shipped now on Staple's home page.We will see.

I received mine yesterday. The quality of the drive seems ok. Works fine with my Adaptec Easy CD Creator 4.0. I tried burning a CD and it works. Also, mine had the latest firmware 1.37 on there so that might be why it's ok.

Memorex is not a reputable CDRW maker but for $50, it's probably worth a shot.

How the heck do you track your orders at staples.com? In my order history I can find my orders but to get a status report I have to have a 10 digit order number. Is this site so dumb that you have to write it down when you order? They never send me confirmation emails so I have no idea what the order # is (and I can't find it on the friggin order history page).

After a couple of days of no email from Staples, I lost faith of the deal and believe it is another fluke e-deals, but to my surprise UPS delivers the Memorex CDRW drive this afternoon.

I hope that everybody also finally got their orders.

just get mine today..if you want to know the status of your order..simply check ur credit card history..if staples charge you..they will send you the cd-rw..
