Well, I ordered two drives at about 10AM eastern. Everything went through fine. About 5 mins ago I got a phone call here at work from a Sales rep saying they were out of stock and had to cancel my order. I was kinda shocked to get a phone call from Staples here at work! No emails.

I would check them out - the B&M's are not related to the .com store, however, they will not accept the coupons.
I know it because all of B&M's around me have the Palm's (M100) and the website says they're out of stock.

I've received nothing yet. So based on past experiences with Staples, I'm assuming its canceled. Why do they never send me a cancelation email? Anywho, my sentiments: "Staples is suck (at least when they cancel your order)".

I never get e-mails when I order from Staples, and I never get cancellation e-mails. It's just wait to see what comes in the mail, and call if nothing comes.

Why do some people get e-mails and others do not? Are they sent by the local store or distributor, so it's store specific? I'm in Northern Virginia.

Creative also apparently relabled the JVC and named it the 4224 also:

Memorex same as Creative 4224 , but the 2080 upgrades are much newer and apparently burn at 4x on the 4080 (see unofficial faq above).

Here's the firmware upgrade from JVC for the 4080. JVC's 4080 bios The 2080 firmware is newer (see unofficial FAQ) and reportedly works on the 4080 at 4x. Flash at own risk. flashing the 4080 with newer 2080 bios

I have one of these, its completely broken now, but while it worked (it thats what you can call it) it was awful. Wouldn't recognize half the cds I threw at it, I'd have to open and close the drive up to 5 times to get it to work... but it makes great coasters!!!!

P.S. for 30 bucks I would have bought another
