is it really that hard to make consistent dyes that work reliably? i swear its been long enough, you would think theyd have these things figured out by now. if you look at the technology over the years, burnable discs really werent that great of a technology. i look forward to "disposable, reusable" solid state discs.

As a professional, I think Memorex is TERRIBLE. When Sam's Club switched to it I tried it. Horrible. I'm still trying to get rid of that stock when I want to see something on TV and record it, watch it, and then throw the disc away. It won't work in a year anyway. Just buy the remaining stock of JVC Taiyo Yuden value line instead from Supermediastore or Shop4Tech.com

From what I recall, Taiyo Yuden doesn't make DVD+R DL; of course their DVD+/-R are legendary but non dual-layer DVD media is cheap. The industry leader is Verbatim for DVD+R DL and they are consistently $1+ per disc. For unimportant data like Xbox 360 backups or short term transfer/storage, Memorex and the other lesser quality discs work fine. In my experience, the burner you are using often plays a larger role in burning quality discs than specific manufacturer's media, at least in the short run.

It's funny how some people will swear by one media while saying another is pure crap. If you visit videohelp.com and look up the media codes for TDK and Memorex you'll notice that for the most part they use the same manufactured discs rebranded under their name. It's a YMMV as to what you actually get in a spindle as is the case now for Verbatim as well. Supposedly their made in Singapore discs are perfect while anything else, not so much. I've had good success with the Ricoh, Ritek manufactured discs from Memorex and TDK using IMG Burn and burning at slower than the max burn speed on a LG BD 8x BR burner. So unless you know you're getting Verbatim made in Singapore you're gambling with whatever you buy.

What are you talking about man? I've been using the shittiest, cheapest CDs and DVDs for many years to burn movies and backup data. Even 10-14 years later all my backups work just fine. Cant say anything about Xbox, because I usually wait till games get to $5 or so then I buy em.

And my memorex discs are working well past 5 years hahaha.. what kinda professional are you? professional tv viewer? hahahaha thanks for laughs yea i know they are not the best but for cheap discs cant beat the price shipped (that i have seen at least)

I've had the same experience with Memorex DVD DL blanks.

I found that Buy.com often has TDKs just as cheap and, at least for me, they have been consistently better. Not 1 coaster in over 100 burns vs. more than 10 out of 50 with the Memorex blanks.

Ive never had one problem with memorex but TDK on other hand had a few with layerbreak problems.. he didnt mention them burning coasters he said they only last 1 year =P

So if your burning coasters prob arnt doing something right.. the TDK would fail burn about 50% exactly.. I looked at shop4tech for his recommended discs and there is no such ones haha i guess hes talking about dvd+r not dual layer (just triple checked yup there are no JVC Taiyo Yuden dual layers)

Whatever.

I'll stick to my above statements because they are derived from my personal experience, and, in my personal experience, Memorex is crap, and I would not recommend buying their blanks.

I've used these before, and the only coasters that I have gotten were from user error.
