i have no clue... just burn stuff overnight or something.

DVD media is too expensive to be doing something and causing buffer under runs.

I spoke with the manager of my local OD, and he said that he's giving me a 30 day price guarantee....even though there is a 14 day return grace period. Guess he's so familiar with my face (from all those AT deals ).

All dvd burners have buffer underrun protection. This particular one has "Just Link".

My question is... if these drives are already so scarce and out of stock as it seems in most places, how would the prices get slashed down to $79.99. Even if they did go down in price it would be useless because they don't have them in stock. And let's say it they do go down in price but they are out of stock, and you come into the store with the drive you got for $119 and wanted the difference in price. Wouldn't that be kind of obvious and suspicious?

It's called price guarantee, a lot of stores have it. even circuit city. Lets say you buy something and the price drops, you can bring back the receipt and get an adjustment made.

i'm just asking because i'm afraid the manager or employee would give me problems for doing an odd thing like that...


also, will i still get the price guarantee if the OD store i go to has none in stock? i guess i can do another repurchase...

I've heard of store policies where if you return something for cash you can't buy the same item for 24hrs. Maybe another of the same item but not the exact item you returned. In the meantime someone else could buy it. YMMV, but, I have seen that in person (behind someone in line, not to me personally--I haven't tried it).

you got the dvd burner at a great price.

some of us can't even find it in our OD. If you're worried then don't open the box but keep it sealed and wait for the price to drop. bring it back return and repurchase.

Most of the clearance items at Office Depot are on a clearance schedule. Once it goes on clearance, they can look it up on the inventory system and see when the next several price drops are scheduled to occur.

If anyones interested there is 1 left at the lynwood washington store off 196th. Waiting till the 18th for it to drop to $79.00 isn't such a good idea if they are all out by then.

Well I "scored" one of these at the Santa Clara store, but I returned it. Too slow, imho. I went to a different office depot, though, and they had a dru-500ax on clearance for $199. I talked them down to $169 based on the Compusa debacle.

So, I have a dru-500ax for $169. Is that a reasonable deal? What's the 510 do that the 500 does not?

Woot I got 2. I just hope I can return them, buy em again and then get the price adjusted. BTW I also got the employee to verify that the price will drop on the 18th. This should be a slick deal. I just hope things roll right for me.

Oh so yur the bumshizzle (iwearnosox) that made be go all the way to Los Gatos OD to get my two. Oh well it should be worth it in the end. Could I ask you though which store you went to to get the PM on the Compusa Goof? I wanna check out the drive and see if its worth it and if i can get a similar deal.
