sorry man. if i had a scanner i would do it for ya, but i don't have one.

i'm in on one of these things for $13.54 after rebate. there were a few tense minutes while I waited for a manager to approve using both the price match and the Sears $5 coupon, but it worked. for some reason the register kept saying the $5 coupon was expired. that's when he had to call a manager to approve the sale.

when i gave the guy the $5 coupon, he asked for my Sears card. i said i didn't realize that the coupon required a Sears card. he said bah, let's try using my credit card anyway. lo and behold, it worked. definately YMMV on the $5 coupon.

$13.50 for a brand new friggen dvd player. i can't believe it. thanks OP.

Will try at least.

EDIT: Sears is awesome when it comes to electronics etc. I bought an Apex 1150 in Dec and it crapped out a little more than a month later. They took it back no questions asked, no receipt or anything. They gave me store credit. I can live with that.

I got that $5 off $25 and I didn't use a sears card. They had to call a manager over to make it work. It said the coupon had expired. Does anyone know how to make this DVD player region free? I can't find any region hacks online.

When I bought mine the manager had to approve the coupon and price match as well. For some reason the coupon came up as expired too, even though I found one online that was good until 4/1/05... I had a few tense moments too as the saleswoman couldn't believe I was getting it for so cheap. I hate that feeling but now I have a kickaxe DVD player for pocketchange.

Thanks OP.

Worked for me, but see they only gave 105% price match, not 110%, cashier was confused by having to do it manually, I guess, thank god none of them have to figure out how much change to give, as they progress to career goal of manager of a Best Buy.

Anyway, I'm good. Got to Sears, with 5 off 25 coupon, and my decades old Sears card in my pocket, but discovered I forgot my printout of HD page, laying in the printer tray. Went in away, told Sales guy, HD had it cheaper, but wanted to buy at Sears because of the extended warranty. SG went to HD website, saw the "special price" page, didnt even blink, gave me the total without the 5 off coupon, I sprung that on him, he had to get manager approval, (he had already wadded up the coupon and tossed it in the trash, (?), so manager didnt even get to look at it, but manager did his thing to ok it on the register. And I'm home now, for $28.12 including the 2year extended warranty for $4.08 -$10 rebate which printed out at register. Not sure what to do about extra 5% pricematch, only 1.80 minus some pennies for sales tax, but was in and out, so might cut my losses, instead of having the "I own Sears stock" manager working the evening shift, "ok-ing" my price match correction with extreme preduice.

They would let me either pricematch or use the coupon.

I tried to used the coupon out of the Calender in the store.

click the "printer friendly" on The Home Depot's site. print it out and use it when u go to Sears. the printer friendly link doesn't mention anything about the price being special.

i haven't tried getting this deal yet, but probably will tommorrow.

I thought Sears price-matched sale items... that's the point of price matching, isn't it? How else do you bring in the flier to show them the price from somewhere else?

got one! pm and coupon. manager had to swipe his card for each. Whats the best way to hook thse up to an old TV with no RCA's? I bought it for my parents and I had a worry of macrovision in the back of my head, was correct. The only way I can hook it up to thier tv is through the VCR at the moment. Looking for the cheapest way to get this working for them.

Yep, it works just like you said... got the pricematch using the "printer friendly" printout of the Home Depot price, also used the $5 coupon, which, just like they said, came up as, "coupon expired" - obviously a bogus message, and it does NOT insist on the use of a Sears Card, by the way (on the register). The coupon DOES say it's to be used with a Sears Card or Sears Mastercard.

Got the Merchandise Replacement Agreement for $4.08, which gives an additional year of coverage, on top of the 90-day coverage Memorex gives with the unit.

Unit works great! I'm replacing a still-working Sony DVP S500D unit, that although it works fine, is incompatible with any recordable formats. The Memorex works fine with them.

Thanks for a GREAT DEAL heads-up!

Got mine yesterday. Price matched for $29.00 then the young clerk had a surprised look when the $10 rebate printed out with the receipt.

Brought the unit home and hooked it up to my 5.1 system. Used the RGB, S video and coax audio outputs. Went to blockbuster and got the DVD "SAW". Movie played great on the unit and the 5.1 audio sounded good too.

After the rebate I'll have 19 bucks plus tax into the unit.. All I can say is what a deal.

I have an old TV monitor, with only coax input, and was worried about being able to view DVD's using the input RCA jacks in my Toshiba VCR as "pass through" to TV. Worked fine for me, to view DVD on TV. Macrovision just causes problems when you try to record DVD onto VHS, not when using L1 or L2 input on VCR to get to TV input via coax from VCR.

I guess there VCR is in a middle stage of old and new. It has a coax in and an set of RCA's, but the VCR needs to be on to get access to it. Maybe I'll mess with it a bit and see if I can get it to just pass through, but I dont think mine works that way.

This was ripped from FW!
There are coupons available in store in their Calendars, some stores have them, others don't. I got in on this deal, and the player works great!

it just says was 39.99 right? I wouldnt worry about it. They had no problem with the PM at the sears I went to, and at first the coupon wasnt going to work, but the cashier did a price adjust even though it said the coupon was expired, and they never asked me for a Sears card give it a shot. I suggest waiting just before he finishes the sale then pull out the coupon, worked for me.

I just got back from Sears. They did not want to do the price match, then told me they would, but were going to include the $10 rebate. I told them to just do the price match and not give me the rebate. That took them a while to come to terms with, and when they finally did I think I might have overloaded what little cognitive powers they still had when I pulled out my coupon.

They had to call a manager over who told me that it was not Sears? policy to honor coupons on price matched items. She said I was already getting a good deal and to add the coupon would be too much.

I asked if I could see a print out of the price match policy and she said they did not have one. So I got the DVD player for 27.20 before tax. I printed out the rebate form (thanks for the link OP), but it asks for the salesperson's signature. Do you think I should go back and get one of them to sign it?

I think I pissed them off because when I was leaving I told 2 other people who were waiting to buy the same DVD player they could price match to Home Depot and gave them spare print outs that I had

I think I would take it back and find some random salesperson to sign it, make sure you take your receipt and stuff.

I thought I almost got the new guy that was ringing up my stuff fired, since the coupon wouldnt scan he just did a manual price override. Had to get his supervisor over like 3 times to scan his card to approve the PM and the coupon cause the poor kid kept messing it up. At one point he almost credited $22.20 back to my card

Great deal, thanks OP!

Worked fine in a local Sears Hardware store with the HD printout and the $5 off coupon, although the cashier had never done it and needed the manager's assistance. The coupon came up as expired and eventually they gave it to me as a "customer satisfaction" ring-up.

The manager was so surprised at the HD price that she congratulated me and asked the other manager if she was allowed to get one for herself! I mentioned the rebate to her as I walked out and she just smiled and once again said great job!

? 6 for Region 6
? 0 for ALL Regions
4. Press ENTER to confirm.
Then re-load the DVD disc.

Heads up, firmware (menu choices) change made in these players, somewhere 9-2004 and later. I realize this is not the DVD forum, but trying to save someone some trouble who might be grabbing one of these, based on if they want long folder/file names displayed.

Got one, manufacture date unknown, as have loaned to a friend, while his high $ unit is being repaired. This first one didnt seem to show CD tracks on the TV screen at all, and has the zoom that goes through the 1/2 1/3 etc, before coming back to 1:1. I went to get a 2nd one, and it had a build date of 7-2004, and 'old firmware'. It had high pitched squeals in the audio, when playing DVD's. Took it back, got one with build date of 9-2004. Has 'suffix B' on manual, Setup menu is lacking the digital in choices, Spd RAW? etc, lacks 3d setting for 2 speakers, lacks Digital audio slider setting, but does have a new Doby Digital setup menu that lets you chose Stereo, LMono, RMono, MixMono. Zoom is just 4x now.
Also, this new firmware shows long folder and file names, (longer that 8 characters). I had first one plugged into Toshiba VCR, M751, and pass-through to TV worked fine, but on this new DVD firmware, with 'Suffix B' on the manual, the picture is a little darker. Either Macrovision is a little stronger, in a diff. vid. chip, or just a diff. vid chip in the DVD player. Watch-able, no way for me to connect 'B' DVD directily to TV to see if it is Macrovision, or a diff. vid chip in player.

Of anyone who got one of these, which firmware would be the best to have, for digital setup options in the future?, forgetting that having long folder/file names are best, I can live with short ones, if vid and audio set up menu is lacking important stuff in new firmware.
