I have a slightly dated system, with a biostar m7vip rev 1.0 motherboard, a xp 2400+, and up until recently I had a stick of crucial/micron pc2700 512mb, and a stick of corsair pc2700 256mb, 6800 video card, and a soundblaster live.
Everything worked fine for the longest time, but i got a stick of mushkin pc2700 512mb stick of ram for christmas and thats when the problems started.
At first I stuck it in with the rest of the ram and it booted into windows, but froze in 3dmark03. So i took the new ram out and ran the test again, it ran fine. Then I took the corsair ram out and put the mushkin ram back in, but I still had an unstable system. So I figured the ram was bad and rmaed it. Got the new ram in, same exact type of ram, stuck it in and the same problem. Put just that stick of ram in and it ran fine, stuck any of the other two sticks of ram in and its unstable.
Does anyone know a solution to this problem other then returning the ram and then getting a different ram. I tried different combinations on the dimm slots, and my bios is as up to date as it can get with the board being rev1.0.
