To soft? To heavy? To hot? Gel memory Foam?

With this years tax return I want to get a decent bead. I have been looking at memory foam. I need opinions

They suck, get a latex bed.

If you really want memory foam make sure it's good stuff like 5 lb ft weight, I got a cheap 3 lb weight and it sucks.

FYI, Consumer Reports evaluated them and recommends best buys (one of the hardest things about buying one).

I bought their top recommendation but it's still in the box because it's too heavy for a person to move.

We got a hybrid memory foam / pillow top and love it. A little pricey..but they have lifetime guarantees.

I looked at memory foam, but they are too hard on landing, and sink too much when you've been there awhile.

We have a Sealy Optimum. Very nice and has "cool" gel which does make it more comfortable. With the original Tempurpedic you can tell its hot within a minute of laying on it.

Prior to that we tried a memory foam topper on our Sleep Number. That sucker was HOT.

I"m fat

My wife is fat

Dad: fat.

I and my parents have this bed:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00828AQ9M?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_search_detailpage

Infinitely happy.

The gel-foam on the successfully keeps it from being hot.

You'll need to pair it with a pedestal base like this one:
http://www.amazon.com/SmartBase-Fou..._UL160_SR160,160_&refRID=1F2BJ04KCJ82GAZNXWJ5

or bed like this one:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001FVHN6C?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_search_detailpage

Be warned, 12 inches is VERY tall for a bed. No box-spring needed.

PS

I wouldn't care if it was 4,000 instead of 400: i'd still get this bed. That it's less expensive than anything else is just a minor feature.

We love our memory foam but it retains heat like crazy, even my wife who is always COLD says it's hot.

Research the hell out of your new mattress especially heat retention.

I've tried different memory foam and latex mattresses over the years, and they are just too hot for me. Last week I went back to an inner spring with a regular foam pillow top and my sleep has been much better. Whats cool is now they even deliver them like foam mattresses. They are compressed and rolled up, so just unpack and open the bag and they pop into shape in seconds.

I got this one:

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00DZWJEHU

It was only $200. The next model up from this manufacturer without any memory foam was over twice as much, but this was temporary so I went cheap. I was just sick of the latex and wanted something else asap. Most of the better mattresses now use memory foam for the pillow tops. It is surprisingly hard to find a mattress without any memory foam. Not only did it stop the sweating at night, but the mattress actually feels cool and I can use a blanket and comforter without overheating.

Cheap memory foam sucks. Good memory foam is good but expensive.

They're warmer but I haven't found them too hot.

Latex are the shit man, I dont have a full latex mattress, but my pillows are.

Where'd you get pillows like that?

We got a tuft and needle bed recently. It does the job pretty well and its not any hotter than my previous pillow top coil mattress. Do note that this is just foam and not 'memory foam', so its firmer. It's made it easier to sleep on my stomach or side without my back hurting. However, because these beds are flat on top and you don't sink in the sam way your normal pillow may not work for you. Also best to ditch the box spring and got with slats.

I have a good memory foam. my issues are it is rather heavy and it does get hot. I been thinking of a latex one next.

4lb stuff is just about right in comfort and cost. 3" depth is a great topper for any mattress but could require new topsheets. I sleep like nowhere else on foam but if you live in a warmer area, the heat can build up and become a little uncomfortable.

We got a Tempurpedic Cloud Supreme Breeze about a month ago. It's great. The main selling point of that model is that it stays cool, and I think it really does work. It's way less hot than our previous pillow-top mattress. Not cheap, of course...
