I'm buying a new mattress in the next week or two (tax returns on their way lets me spend the money ahead of time!), so I'm curious to know what all you guys think.

I was thinking of getting the Novaform bed from Costco, probably a queen or king (not sure yet but it's unimportant I suppose).

I have back aches and neck aches, and I was hoping this would cure this. Also, I never really get a good nights' sleep.. always tired after I wake up

Much obliged for any help.

I have a ~3" pad to cover my mattress. It is gloriously comfortable except that the unintended side effect of the conformation to your body is zero ventilation. they are hot as hell to sleep on.

a week after we bought it, it was moved to the guest room.

We have a 2" pad for the top of our mattress, and I love sleeping on it... At first, I was like "There's no difference at all... maybe a LITTLE softer." but then when we took it off to replace the sheets, etc. I sat down on the mattress and wow... you're body really gets used to having that memory foam!

Well worth the money in my opinion.

I use a memory foam pillow and it's alright. It doesn't turn into a rock slab like the other pillows .

my mom bought one a Tempur-Pedic mattress and its awesome. but they are $$$$$$ her single size mattress was 1900 bucks. i dont even want to know how much it would cost for my king.

however i do have a Tempur-Pedic pillow which is the bomb. best pillow i have ever had. that as well was expensive. i never thought i would spend 100 bucks on a pillow but after owning it for 4 months it was well worth it. i just may get one for my wife for her birthday in March.

That would never work for me especially during the summer.

I bought mine about 3 years ago.. i liked it... but then again all new bed feels good

I didn't buy tempurpedic.. i got from some online foam store.. They said firm was closest to the tempurpedic one.. but you need extra firm.. so compared it before you buy it..

I also got the 10" instead of 8".. good and bad.. some people advertise 10" as better but 10" is more wobbly.. meaning towards the edge of bed, you can slide off.. its like theres no support there.. so 8" might be better.. but its all up to u..

i dotn have the pillow yet.. been looking to find a source... i would say i have had less back pain.. but it might be all in my head

I have a pillow thats memory foam of some sort and surrounded by down.. omg best pillow ever. I hear for a topper or bed, you also want like 3" of down or something so it doesn't get too hot.

I put together a kit from memoryfoam.com that is 6" of firm Talatay latex and 3" of Sensus memory foam. It is encased in a coolmax cover. It is extremely comfortable and doesn't get hot. I spent a third to a fourth of what a tempur-pedic cost.

I'm not getting one since I'll be late for work everyday.

In regards to aches, I believe our memory foam mattress did reduce it some. It is on a box box-spring. I really like it because my wife and I don't shake each other awake when we turn. Maybe that is just because our previous mattress was so worn down, or just a cheapie. I hated how that thing would creak even from just my breathing.

As I have gotten used to the firmness of ours, I have great difficulty sleeping on other's beds (when traveling). I kind of dread vacations, because I get little sleep.

I regards to some other topics brought up by others. I still do sleep on my stomach, but I have had a messed up back for nearly 20 years due to a work related injury. Nothing will ever make it better, only in death will that pain leave.

In regards to heat. I am heat adverse, I perspire easier than other adult males. But, somehow it isn't a problem on ours. Maybe because we have some kind of thick cotton thing under the fitted sheet. That said, we still turn off the AC in Ohio (hint humidity)when its 80 something and sleep with the windows open.

I love it, but quality matters. The cheap ones are far and away from the really expensive ones.

I sleep on a 3" pad, the full on mattress went to my parents because of their back troubles.

I have a knock-off of a Tempur-Pedic and it's identical to a TP as far as I can tell(I've slept many times on the real deal). It has the same drawback as the real thing too... it is very warm which is good at this time of year and not as good in the summer but that's what air conditioning is for. It helps me sleep so much better and without pain so it's worth the trouble and you can always sleep nekkid if it's too warm.

Also have a real TP pillow and 2 cheaper memory foam pillows. I got the whole memory foam sleep experience happening!

The Costco bed has a "cooling" layer of memory foam on top, so hopefully that will take care of the problems I might have with the heat. I think I'm going to get that bed, I figure I'll use it for a week or two and if it's total crap I can always take it back courtesy of Costco's return policy.... time will tell

i bought the novafoam queen from costco and i really like it. i was very worried that it would be too hot, but we got a "cool" mattress cover and i haven't had a problem with that at all. it is VERY comfortable. i find myself wanting to lie down on it whenever i go into the bedroom. my hips don't ache anymore like on my old bed, and i'm always surprised at how uncomfortable other beds are whenever i sleep elsewhere.

i mean, it's just a bed after all. it won't change your entire life. but for $500 plus $150 for an ikea frame/slats, it was an excellent deal for an excellent bed.

keep in mind that costco sells TWO different memory foam mattresses from the same company. one has the cool layer of foam, and one doesn't. the non-cool one is the one in stores. you can get the cool one from the website, along with the non-cool. i bought non-cool from the store, and it is just fine.

I have a Tempur-Pedic and love it.

The worst part, though, is when its cold (ambient temperature) the bed is really cold and take a bit of time to warm up. (And when you first get it, it smells awful for a week)
