Memory for a Mobo

This may look like an "ASUS A7N8X" topic, and I know there is an "Official A7N8X Deluxe" sticky for that, but really it's more of a memory question.

Ok, so I'm thinking of an "A7N8X Deluxe", but the question I do think is cross-Mobo's, here I go ...

I'm thinking of buying the following DDR:

CORSAIR MEMORY XMS Extreme Memory Speed Series, Low Latency (Twin Pack) 1GB(2 x 512MB) 2x(64MX64) PC-3200LLPT With Platinum - Silver Heat Spreaders.
Specifications:
Speed 400 MHz
Organization 2 x 64M x 64
CAS Latency 2-2-2-6-T1
Memory type DDR
Part number: TWINX1024-3200LLPT Model#: TWINX1024-3200LLPT

OR 2 SETS OF:

CORSAIR MEMORY XMS Extreme Memory Speed Series, Low Latency 512MB 64MX64 PC-3200LLPT With Platinum - Silver Heat Spreader.
Specifications:
Speed 400 MHz
Organization 64M x 64
CAS Latency 2-2-2-6-T1
Memory type DDR
Part number: CMX512-3200LLPT Model#: CMX512-3200LLPT


[1] The Model# are diferent, but the specifications are the same. Can I assume it's the same RAM?

[2] For DDR do I have to fit memory in pairs on my Mobo? For example, to have 512Mb I need 2x256Mb DDR, and for 1Gb I need 2x512Mb RAM?

[3] Do I get more performance of a system with 2x256Mb vs a system with a 1x512Mb (same ram specifications, both systems with 512Mb but one with 2DDR's and another with just 1DDR)?

[2] I'm not sure about using dual channel, but in just general for memory doesn't have to be pairs.
[3] Perforamce will be the same using 2 x 256 MB or 1 x 512 MB. For dual channel using 2 x 256 MB and using if on board video then yes there will be a performace gain compared to 1 x 512 MB.
