Memory/mobo problems please help

Greetings, I hope you can help me

Core2duo e6320
DFI 965P infinity-s
Geil 2x1GB pc6400 (4-4-4-12)
ECS 8800GTS 320MB
Corsair HX520W
Windows Vista 64bit (SP1)

Above specs have been working 100% for 2yrs. The problem is attempting to add Corsair XMS2 2x1GB pc6400 (4-4-4-12) so that I have 4GB of memory. The computer gets stuck at the part where it counts the memory or makes long beeps or continuously cycles on and off.

I have updated my BIOS, reset the BIOS, reset the CMOS, used the bios to alter memory speeds (533 - 800), timings, memory voltages (upto 2.2), increased NB voltages and tweaked other bios settings but they didn't help. I thought it was faulty memory so I ordered a new pair of the same type but I have the same problem.

The computer can boot with 1GB of XMS2.
It can't boot with 2GB of XMS2.

Probably a "duh" but just in case, have you tried swapping the sticks around?

You should also try booting with just the 2 sticks of XMS2 to make sure you don't have a dud. Unless this is what you are saying you've tried in the last lines of your post, in which case maybe it's a compatibility issue with the XMS2 sticks...

I bought two packs of XMS2 memory so I have two packets one I begun the process of RMA but it's looking like its not the memory thats at fault. I have tried multiple combinations and have mixed it up a bit trying different slot combinations with dual channel set up and non dual channel, I have mixed the 2 packs of modules together including combining other brands and the only thing that works is a single stick of the memory were I get a successful post. My previous memory is OCZ which is a different brand of course and for some reason with 2 sticks of this older memory installed I can install 1x corsair module and sometimes get a successful post. With 4 Corsair modules installed (4x1GB) the pc refuses to POST at all and the bios makes a loud continuous beep once, this repeats until I reset the computer. Sometimes the power up cycle just repeats itself

Single long beeeep at boot often indicates the board isn't sensing any memory installed.

Unfortunately those 965P motherboards were notoriously picky with RAM. I had a Gigabyte DS3 that rejected four different sets of sticks until I finally bought a pair that were specifically listed on their compatibility chart. BIOS updates improved the situation but didn't fix it entirely. You might just be looking at incompatible hardware.

Those 965P boards also weren't the best overclockers out there. You might consider just getting a new board (like this Foxconn G43MX-K for $63AR).
