Memory/Motherboard Compatabilty

Am about to jump into the world of Core i7. Definitely want to get ASrock X58 Exteme mobo as it has lots of great features at relatively low price. Its at Newegg http://www.newegg.com/Product/...x?Item=N82E16813157163

Want to get the OCZ Reaper HPC 3GB (3 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1866 (PC3 15000) Triple Channel Kit Desktop Memory Model OCZ3RPR1866C9LV3GK. Its also at Newegg at http://www.newegg.com/Product/...x?Item=N82E16820227382

OCZ does not list comparabilty with this board on their site and ASrock does not even mention compatability with any 1866 memory let alone this one. Called OCZ tech support and they said that if mobo not listed on their site then they haven't tested it.


This memory is designed specifically for the Intel X58 chipset / Core i7. Don't know why it shouldn't work with this mobo.


Any thoughts?

Yes, the OCZ is an odd rated speed. In my experience, these odd rated kits don't stay around for long.
Why use OCZ when Asrock has a large list of supported memory?
