Last week I just upgraded myself from the build in my signature to a skylake setup. I am using an Asrock Z170m Extreme4 motherboard, 6600K cpu, and 16 (8x2) gb of GSkill Ripjaws V (F4-3200C16D-16VKB) which are rated for a 3200 speed OC. The motherboard is rated to OC all the way up to 3466.
The CPU overclocks to 4.6 without issue and stays cool. However in the BIOS if I try to use the XMP profile for the memory to OC it the PC doesn't make it to windows and after a few tries resets itself before booting. Do I have a bad memory set or is this problem common? If I need to run my memory at the slower 21333 speeds as it's running now, should I return it and buy the naturally slower memory and save about $20.
Edit: I did run the memtest program listed in the OC forum and had no errors.
