HI All,
I want to improve system performane; speed mainly. Looking at a few options.

Current System:
ASUS A7N8X with AMD XP2500+ (1.8) Barton
1 GB PC-2700 (512x2 DDR)
2 30GB Maxtor UDMA Drives
ATI 6800 Radeon

Upgrade CPU to 3200 (2.2)
Upgrade memory to PC 3200 (512x2 DDR)
Install a RAID card

Appreciate your expertise with this issue.

Speed in what? Games, PhotoShop, DVD infringement?

A 3200+ will help a bit in games, but nothing like a jump to A64 would. The RAM by itself will do nothing. RAID only helps cut map/level load times, it won't increase FPS.

Like Dave said, each device you upgrade speeds up, or helps a certain action, such as gaming, video editing, image editing etc... Since we don't know, we can't help you what you want specifically. If you want to speed up your overall system, the AMD 3200 would be the way to go.

Thanks Ace,
Sorry I was not very specific. Looking for the most bang for the buck. Dave mentioned an AMD64 would be nice.

Thanks....

Blaizer2: Best bang for the buck would be to upgrade to an A64 and keep current components.

I.e. all your current components would work fine in the upgrade.

However, what is an ATI 6800 Radeon?

Never heard of it before - is it actually sub-7000 in performance?

Best bang for the buck could possible be a vid card upgrade if so.
