Accessmicro

Ok, the stick of 256mb PC133mhz SDRAM I bought for $135 a week ago, and $134 a couple of weeks ago is now at $125. Basically all ram across the board dropped to a new low. If you want ram and still didn't jump on any deals so far, this is it. Here's a little background of prices recently. For this dimm that I bought, I bought it for $134 around 3 weeks ago. Soon after it dropped to $128, then rebounded to over $140+. This past week, it dropped down to $135, when I picked up another stick and now it's at $125, a new low. Don't know if it will drop any further, so get it now while it's cheap. Extremely cheap.

[update] That 256 dimm is now $113...

Yea I saw this also. Nice price! I remember how much I paid for ram like a year ago!! Quick question though...cas2 is faster than the cas3 correct? Just wondering if I am correct

I went to the website for Zeus Components http://www.zeuscomponents.com And I noticed that they are offering a reabte on their rbate page (easy to find the link!!). Accessmicro sells Zeus's memory

I wonder if the rebate is for the stuff they sell at Accessmicro. Accessmicro gives their own part number but not the manufactuer's part number....hard to tell

Yet another post from me....

Interesting that on the Zeus website under where to buy it is listed as Accessmicro as the exclusive seller. So maybe the rebate is good? Hope so...thats a nice price with the rebate

cas2 is indeed faster than cas3

The rebate applies to the pc133major... Accessmicro does carry those, but they are not the ram I mentioned above. The one with the rebate is a little more expensive.

I wonder why memory prices are falling so fast? Remember how much we were paying for RAM last year! Now we just have to hope that DDR/SGRAM will follow suite.

Wow, that Micron stuff is only 2 bucks more than the accessmicro stuff, I would definitely go for that sucker.

The googlegear website with the Micron might be only $2 more but their shipping is also $3 more. Accessmicro charges 9.95 and this site is 7.95 + 5.00 handling = 12.95 for s/h. So there is a $5.00 difference for those who are cheap like me =)

Dude, you're better off paying the 5 bucks for the micron instead of getting generic stuff, especially if you're planning on OC'ing or anything like that.

Generally speaking, I would beware any memory I buy from them for the following reasons (from personal experience):

The 128mb stick I bought was generic-city. Depending on your setup, this DOES make a difference in my experience. Mine is an Athlon setup- stable CAS 2 settings were not possible.

Their customer service was HORRIBLE. First, they told me the order was <<in stock>>, whereupon it was promptly back-ordered I suspect. Then they shipped it to the wrong address. I had one helluva' time getting through on their toll-free line as well. Then, to beat all UPS turned it into a total goat-screw by shipping it to Chicago, then somewhere in Colorado, then New York, and <<finally>> to my abode here in Virginia- thank God for UPS's online tracking service. Anyway, that was my experience with them, hope you had a better experience than I did. Maybe they've improved, but I'll forever remain leary of them.

My rig:

Athlon (classic) 650
256mb stick of Micron CAS 2 (the good stuff)
Winfast 256 Geforce DDR
SB Live Value
IBM 22GXP 20GB/7200rpm
Adaptec SCSI card
POS, Smart & Friendly 4x CD-R! I just bought a new Sony CRX140E 8/4/32 R/RW, hopefully the dot.com implosion won't bring them to their knees as well ;-)

Arrgghhh... too-late. Already bought them. The first stick ran fine at pc100... haven't tested it out on a 133 board yet. I'm not going to OC, so I think I'm fine with what I got. Although I would have paid the extra money for the micron if I found out in time. You win some, you lose some...

RAM ALWAYS gets cheaper, it's inevitable. If you don't need it then don't get it just because the price is great. Unless it's really really great, like free or something. personally I'm holding out for DDR RAM and a new badash ddr mobo with raid.

RAM prices were really expensive because of a natural disaster in Asia (A Typhoon in Taiwan, if I remember correctly), that wiped out a bunch of the fab facilities. They're all back online, so prices are going through the floor again.
