Memory problems with new mainboard - help!

Ok, well I just installed a Leadtek K7NCR18D-Pro, with 256mb pc2100 ram, turned it on, and when it POSTed it said : "Memory Frequency is at 268mhz" and then froze there - so I figured I would go into the BIOS and fix it - wouldn't let me enter the BIOS, or continue the startup. Well I didn't know whether that was the DDR speed or normal, but either way I knew it was too high. So I removed the stick from the socket, and moved it over to the second socket just to test it out. I also reset the CMOS. After I did that I started it up and it said "Memory Frequency is at 200mhz" by then I figured out that must be the non-ddr speed and my ddr266 ram is trying to run at ddr400. Now no matter what socket I put it in, it says the memory is running at 200mhz. Although it is detecting the correct amount of memory. Also, maybe I should mention my Athlon XP 1800+ is showing up as Athlon 1150mhz, but that can be fixed in the BIOS. What is going on? I can't seem to fix this. The memory worked fine when it was in my previous KR7A-Raid motherboard. Help!

Go into the BIOS and set the FSB to 133 MHz. You are currently at 100 MHz FSB or 200 MHz DDR... 133 MHz FSB will be 266 MHz DDR.

Your CPU is currently at 1150 MHz. It's an 1800+ or 1.53 GHz @ 133 MHz FSB. 1.53 GHz / 133 MHz = 11.5 mulitplier. 11.5 x 100 MHz FSB = 1150 MHz.

What HSF are you using? Make sure the clip is installed the correct way where it is applying pressure directly on the core. The clip may be backwards and only applying half pressure so when you try 133mhz fsb, it's overheating almost immediately, but it's not too hot at 1150mhz. My buddy just had the same problem and that was the cure. Just a thought.
