Memory Problems

My friend just ordered some cheap memory $35 for 128MB RAM but when he installed it, the MB doesn't seem to pick it up. he says he checked the CMOS and it tells him that memory bank 1 or whatever is filled with 128MB, but when he boots up, it still says he has only 64MB(originally what he had). Any Suggestions or ideas. he has a Dell, 2 1/2 years old, think its a P2 400, sorry no other specs for now

If the RAM is high density RAM, ie 32x4 types, Intel chipsets cannot handle this time of RAM. Generally very cheap RAM is this type, and can only be used on non-Intel chipset based motherboards. You need 16x8 type RAM.

Its 16x64, is that bad too? sorry don't really know what those numbers mean.
