Sony sure seems to be putting the cost up. If I remember right, the Sandisk cards test faster than the made by Sony ones, and sure are a lot cheaper.

As always, pricematch at Staples and combine with coupon to get cheaper. I got a 512 MB Sandisk there a few weeks back for $131 shipped that way.

sorry, the prices aren't really that hot.
this past week there was the lexar 256 ms pro for $70 at officemax, with a $20 rebate (if you could get in on it-it was advertised).

if you need it now, and can't wait for good deals, go to ebay. their prices are better than these that you see, especially for the pros

I don't agree with that. Look at the ending prices of most of the deals completed on e-bay. Their prices are generally higher than those he listed, and then you have to trust the seller as well.

Again, combine with Staples pricematching and coupons for even better prices.

Agreed. Ebay sucks for the memory sticks. I find buy.com to be the place to buy them, that or Forsale/trade.

SanDisk Memory Stick PRO 256MB: $69.95 + shipping at JustDeals. I found a $5 off
coupon which brought it down to $64.95. Shipping was high at $12.90,
but the total was only $77.85 which was the best I could find last night.

Best deal on memory sticks - year round :- is COSTCO(if you have the $45 for the membership or a friend who is a member) - Sandisc 256MB USB2.0 is 49.95(+tax) out the door. Next week they even have a $10 coupon

As of September 2001: SanDisk supplies the flash memory to Sony, who then supplies SanDisk with the MemoryStick...

As of January 2003: Sony Announced the release of the MemoryStickPro based upon designs by SanDisk Corp to use a PARALLEL (similar to SD and CF) rather than the SERIAL interface (on the MemoryStick).

The only other major supplier of MemorySticks is Lexar ... who is partially owned by Sony (as of April 2000).

As a sidenote, Sandisk worked with Toshiba to produe CF, and Matsushita (Panasonic) to produce MMC/SD ...

They also provide OEM cards for HP, Fujistu, Motorola, Kodak and Panasonic... (in ALL formats)

P.s.: COSTCO also has memory sticks - Ithink they are Sandisk too and cost about $45 for 128MB - not sure if the "$10 off media cards" coupon for next week will apply.

Actually, a search of Costco's website reveals they don't sell Sony camera's and not surprisingly, thus don't carry memory sticks either.
