Memory upgrade for emachines m6805?

I've tried 2 different types of store-bought memory (CompUSA - PNY "Optima" DDR333, and this generic Centon memory) - both 512 MB sticks to replace the 256 external. The PNY would crash my machine sometime after bootup in Windows, while the Centon memory would not boot at all.

What have people tried and worked successfully with the m6805? Both memory sticks are listed as compatible with the older athlon xp-m laptops, so curious as to what I have to do to get a working memory stick from a retail store. I'm abroad from my own home, so online stores won't help me, and I won't get back home for a month yet =(

You must have at least PC 2700 memory and it has to be cas 2.5 or better for it to work correctly, the memory is hard coded in the bios to run at cas 2.5

I have this laptop and love it. I picked up a 512 module (Kingston KVR333SO/512R) from Best Buy a couple of months ago when it was on sale for approx $120.00 with a $20.00 rebate. I've had no problems at all. Good luck
