I was talking to a friend of mine and she asked me a question that I don't know the answer to. (Surprise, surprise) Anyway.... She has a friend that is flying in to the airport. Her friend is a male. She was thinking of surprising him at the airport, maybe with a flower of some sort. My question is this.... Guys, would you want to be surprised? If you were surprised, would you care if she brought flowers or something?

Okay, I will check this later. I have to go to bed now because of that awful 4-letter-word.....WORK!

i have work too so i'll keep this simple. if she surprises him like that, he may get the wrong idea and think she likes him. if she does have a crush on him then it's ok...maybe not flowers. as a guy i wouldn't know what the heck to do with flowers. wait, does he know she is going to be there? i dunno, just don't bring flowers...i need sleep

I'd rather just be surprised w/o flowers. Maybe a nice little gift or something would be better, but flowers for a guy just doesn't really fit well since guys don't like flowers that much. I'd ratehr she just sneak up and give me a hug or something. At first I'd be like "WTF?!" but then I'd be like "Oh, sweet!"

Me, I wouldn't know what to do with flowers. I think Sack over there has it right....just a big surprise hug would be pretty sweet. Like a cat stalking her prey...just find a great time to jump him...just don't jump on his back in case he has back probs .

I like what JRKIO said. If my girl buddy would suprise me at the airport like that, I don't wanna see her coming. Well, I'll wanna see her, but I'd like it more if she'd like sneak up on me and do something fun. Hug would be nice, but she has this thing with poking my sides. I always jump and start cussing and stop mid sentance when I see her. After that, a hug would be great.

SackOfAllTrades has a point. Would he take it the wrong way and think she has a thing for him while she really doesn't? Could turn awkward later.

Flowers may be Ok for some guys under certain situations, but as a general rule, no, and definatley not in public.

A small gift may be ok, but that will depend on the relationship between them. A big wet sloppy kiss in public or anything else to boost his ego, like calling him "master" in front of his friends would be great.

I wouldn't bring flowers unless they are more than friends because it could send all sorts of wrong signals to her male friend. Tell your friend to register for AT then have her post here exactly what her relationship is with this guy. I'd say just be herself, if he likes something (food or material wise) she might have that waiting for him with her, in her car or at her place? Just don't do flowers.

This is the deal with them:

She has never met him in person. They have been talking on-line and by phone for over a year. The original plan was for her to meet him for dinner. He would arrive by plane and take a cab to the hotel and then she would meet him there.

She should rent a limo, then have the driver standing there w/ the guys name, and she should be waiting in the limo w/ a little bottle of champagne.

girls always try to pull crap like that. personally, id say tell her to stick to the plan. i cant speak for all men, but i really dont like surprises. im usually pretty pissed off when i get off of planes, cause i just went thru the biggest migraine of all time. so if some chick surprised me and expected me to have a conversation w/ her..i wouldnt be the nicest guy.

I don't know. I wouldn't want flowers, I'd have to care for them and wouldn't want to have that concern. I can't think of a thing I'd want or expect or appreciate except the person herself.

I'm not sure the limo idea is a good one since it maybe too much for a first meeting. How about this for a sappy first face-to-face:

guy comes out of airdeck (or whatever that walkway is called). is about to head for the phones to call a cab. sees a placard with his online nickname scrawled all over, held by some girl. guy takes hint that this girl came to meet him at the airport and she offers him a lift to have dinner someplace.

I don't think there's anything too misleading, but is a little more &quot;involved&quot; than having him simply show up at the hotel.
