basically, the first number is your neck size, 16-18 or wutever, the second number is the width of the shirt as measured by your waist.

so you if you measure your neck, and it is 16 inches exactly, and you wear a size 34 waist, then generally give yourself a half inch or an inch on the neck (so you can button the damn thing and not choke), so grab a 17/34-35.

but i think they don't have any large size shirts, 17.5/34-35 being the largest.

Actually this is incorrect. First number is neck size, second number is sleeve length. An occasional third number will specify waist width but this is typically only provided with athletic cut-clothing.
