lol.

cell phones do not replace watches. Most have a clock in their cars too, and at their desk and ...

This.

Dudes should only wear rings if they are married, or in some sort of special group (sport champions, engineers/lawyers, the mob), otherwise no rings.

I've been wearing this for the last few months.

Thoughts:
  • It's not too low profile.
  • It's 'comfort fit' so it slides on easy.
  • Tungsten carbide has serious heft/weight. Nice *thunk* when you set it down.
  • 8.5 on the Moh's hardness scale so only diamond or corundum will scratch it
  • Tungsten carbide does not lend itself to engraving so most patterns are laser etched.
  • The laser etched pattern is low contrast and can be easily unnoticed. The pic is misleading.
  • Amazon might have higher prices than other retailers, judging by this thread.
  • Ordering from Amazon seller 'Metal Masters Co.' allows you smooth painless exchange, should you order the wrong size. Done that!
  • You will probably order too large a size if using Amazon's sizing chart.

And with cell phones being fairly ubiquitous, watches are starting to get redundant.

Ridiculous. My cell phone is in my pocket. I can't glance at it and tell the time. I have to pull it out and hit the power button before I can see the time. With a watch, I just glance at my watch.

Anyway, Men don't wear rings. They wear a wedding band, and that's it.

I've always worn my university graduation ring, but never had the desire to wear something else (I'll wear a wedding ring when the time comes).

Do American engineers wear a pinky ring like Canadians (not n engineer myself.. but it is the most common jewelry I see on men here)?

I am the same way and have resigned myself to knowing I would need to wear a wedding band. I have the exact same designed ring in Titanium

Finding myself wanting to pick up a white gold or Tungsten Carbide ring.

My ultimate ring would be one of these, but this style I would save for actually getting married or if I decide to not marry as a gift to myself :

A word of warning to those considering exotic metal rings (such as titanium). My EMT friend told me of the following scenario:
You're unconscious and in an emergency room where they decide they need to cut the ring off. Your fancy metal ring is too hard for the saw causing it to slip and slice off/into whatever softer materials (fingers, wrist, interns) get in its way.

Ok, let me modify my earlier agreement to the statement that a man should only wear a wedding ring and a watch. This beer ring is a must have.

Maybe if you are still going to keggers. The server usually takes care of this shit for me.

In a pinch, I can use my knife rather than wearing a bottle opener as a fashion accessory.

Either everyone has an EMT friend that smokes too much weed or just perpetuates the myth.

Even Tungsten can be removed easily and safely with vice-grips. You need to have the EMT fired for being that stupid.

Agreed, it's stupid brittle shiz. Vise grips and a good smack will break it, hell I dropped an endmill made of tungsten carbide and it broke off one of the flutes....boss was not happy his 700$ bit was broken.

Your EMT friends needs to stop listening to folklore.
