I currently have a Citizen that has been my everyday watch for the past eight years. My wife wants to get me a new one soon, so I have been looking around. I am leaning towards This Bulova, but am open to other recommendations.

Reading that men's jewelry thread made me think of this, though I strictly fall into the watch/wedding ring group.

go to the forums at watchuseek and look around at the forums of the type of watch you want. Their FS forum is also a great place to pick up watches. Snagged a couple Breitlings there myself. One of em was only 600 bucks though it was a 2000 model.

i've always been a big fan of Citizen, and Seiko. I would go with one of the two brands.

I have had ~$50 Fossil/Relic watches in the past and they simply do not compare to a quality midrange watch. They don't keep time as well, last as long, or keep their look nearly as nice as a higher quality watch.

A watch is a lot like shoes...I can go buy $30 dress shoes that look similar to more expensive all leather ones, but a close look (and definitely wearing them) breaks the facade. I didn't think there was much of a difference in clothing/shoes/watch quality until after college, but now that I can afford nicer stuff and have owned some of it the difference is huge.

Though it's about $100 cheaper now

I've been happy with it FWIW.

I have the same watch in black/gold.

Very nice watch, although I would have preferred the stainless model (it was a gift).

I dont know what the OP is talking about. My $50 Guess watch is still in good shape. I think I've dropped it many of times and when I call the time lady to check on the time, my watch is always within a few minutes, if not seconds of the "time at the dome." I've had it for over 5 yrs and it hasnt rusted on me or anything. To each his own, but I'm not buying a $300 watch. I use my cellie to check the time.

Same with my $65 Fossil. It's lasted 4 years w/o any problems aside from 1 battery change a few months back.

I wear a Reactor watch, they are pretty sweet, but not sure if they are your style going off of what you are leaning to. I like the Critical Mass collections and the Melt down.

If price was not an option...

http://www.noawatch.com/noa/noa.htm the gent 1 looks awesome.

On a side note, I saw a commercial for that Omega Planet Ocean watch on tv. I went online to check out what the price was and wow....its a sweet looking watch but..damn.

Seiko Kinetic Titanium

Around $5-600 MSRP but can be routinely had for 50-65% off through resellers.

I have this watch, and it has held up very well over the last year. Getting a watch with Sapphire Crystal is worth it in my opinion. Mine doesn't have a single scratch on the crystal, and I wear my watch every day.

I also like this one.
