Sounds like your Mercata $$ are not there. In the "Your Account" section there is a place where the available Mercata $$ show up.

update: just a head up on the shipment, mine is shipped and you were right, they listed incorrect weight.

the ups tracking page stated the status at pick up as

<<ADJUSTMENT TO INCORRECT BILLED WEIGHT;FORWARDED TO DESTINATION>>

toadie some other people had the same problem as you earlier in the deal. They had mercata that they didn't use and it expired. What they did was call a CSR at mercata and tell them that they had wanted to use the $100 mercata for new customers but that they had an old account that they never bought anything with. They said the CSR just rolled your old mercata over and recredited your existing account with the $100. The mercata deal is over now so you might have a tougher time convincing them to credit your account but it's definitely worth a shot. I can't remember which thread it was that talked about it but I know atleast 2 people got their expired mercata credited to their accounts. Worth a shot. You can re-register a million times now and you won't get the mercata because that promotion is over(it ended on friday).

I bought a Hitachi CM715 for $240.00. It was delivered today. I've been all over Hitachi web site. They do not list such a model number.

any ideas?

thinking about disconnecting my cambridge sound works speakers

in my headphones to the speakers.

My Mercata dollars were also expired. I called up, and they confirmed that they were expired and would not be reinstated - even though I asked nicely... Oh well, I went ahead and bought it anyways. Came out to $306, and hopefully I'll get the $100 rebate.

Wahoo! I got mine after driving around the neighborhood to find my UPS guy. Box was a bit ripped up but it looks good. I found the .inf drivers for this monitor:

ftp://ftp.compaq.com/pub/softpaq/sp13001-13500/sp13314.exe

This should setup the max refresh and all that without any tinkering! It is a 1.5mb download though - has a ton of other crap in it.

Now to try higher than 1024x768. At 1024x768 is it very clear with good RGB alignment - I'm not seeing any border fuzz! Sweeeeet!

I tried a couple different resolutions:

1024x768 @ 100 Hz refresh - wonderful
1280x1024 @ 85 Hz refresh - wonderful
1600x1200 @ 75 Hz refresh - little small and tad flickery but clear than I thought it would be...

Looks like I'll be using this one at 1280x1024 @ 85 Hz. I'm going to try it with my Matrox G200 video card to see if it can drive it clearer at 1600x1200 but I doubt it. My video card right now is a Geforce2 MX...

I am VERY happy with the monitor. Very clear, good controls, free speakers, great price! Now it makes me want a 21" trinitron though... Uhoh! Wish I got in on another one for my bro but this is simply awesome.

Thanks!

Driver updats for the monitor or video card may be the way to go for certain OSes....1600x1200 @ 75 looks fine in Windows 2000 for me, but is a little jittery in Millennium....

All this time I was worried about the width of the monitor because my desk has a bookshelf/shelves above and to the left of the monitor area. The sides clear by about 3/4" but the top cleared by only about 1/4.... Whew... thought I might have to do away with the bookcase part of the desk... I'm sure not parting with the monitor.

I have downloaded the files from the link that you provided and another on the Compaq website. The downloaded files do not unzip properly. At first I thought that it was because my workstation is win2k. I have downloaded the files to a win98 and NT 4.0 workstation with the same results. Do you think that you might take pity on me and email me the inf files necessary for win2k professional? I'd greatly appreciate it.

give compaq a call
or thier tech support
tell them you can't unzip driver files.
I don't see why they would not email them to you.
you own one of thier products and they want you to be happy with it.

I thought the driver problem was caused by win2k as well. I thought I seen somewhere a mention of those being 9X only. But if you have the same error on both machines then maybe its something else. Post back if you find a way to correct the problem theres at least one feature I suspect is in the driver I'd like to take advantage of.
