Sounds like a great deal, but what's up w/ that rebate site? Who is offering the rebate? If it is Compaq, why isn't it a Compaq site? Seems kinda fishy 2 me... Is the rebate legit? The link that was posted has no info about who is offering the rebate. Just want to make sure, since w/o the $100 rebate, this deal becomes "luke warm" at best.

It loooks like a rebate fulfillment center. Many of the manufacturers outsource their rebate processing to fulfillment centers.

Thx scam and random... I noticed this in the link: "Offer not valid on Wholesale/Warehouse Club PCs, Montiors and Printers" Mercata would not fall into this category, would they?

Also, I am new to the whole Mercata thing. This Powerbuy ends on 11/19/00. Does this mean I have to make a bid by that date or I miss out? Finally, what do you guys usually bid? The current price or something lower?

I hope not, I asked the rep if I could buy from an internet site, and he said as long as they aren't a wholesaler it was valid.
Mercata is a retailer, so we seem to be okay. I am going to buy one..

Mercata also sell Compaq computer package with obvious rebate information, so this monitor should
have rebate too. The lowest price for MV920 is $479, anyone can check it if it is brand new
or refur?

It's definitely sold out. I even went back to a cached page I had, and tried to add it to my cart and a msg came up saying the item no longer existed.

Well, I guess the only good news is that there are at least three of us willing to buy in if they offer it again. i'm sure we could get the price down again.

called mercata and talked to a CSR I told them that I was new and when I went to buy monitor it was gone???The CSR said that the monitor will be back up within the next 24 hrs. said to check about 7pm EST.so those wanting this monitor might want to check back soon.

I have been looking for a 19" monitor for a while and this is a GOOD DEAL

Select the monitor in mercata and when you go to check out, click on the MSNPassport check-out link. This will get you all the discounts. The $100.00 Compaq rebate is valid and can be gotten thru the rebate link. It shows a 17" monitor on the link, click it anyway. It will take you to Compaq's rebate page which specifically list this monitor for the $100.00 rebate. When you get your monitor you can file for the rebate on line.

This item is sold out, but is supposed to be back on the site tonight or tomorrow. I already got one of these monitors and am going to get another one when they have it again.

If you don't sign up as a new customer before midnight tonight on Mercata, you won't be eligible for the $100.00 to be applied as discounts. The discount dollars are good thru the end of this month.
