Hmm the 5% ebates.com don't work. When I went through ebates.com to mercata. Add the monitor, then use the MSN passport express check out. Logged in, only the Ebates.com bander would still be visible on the top.

Anyone try it?

I didn't realize it wasn't a powerbuy until after I pulled the trigger. With the rebate, it sure is a good deal, though.

I had some trouble finding specs on the Compaq site, it looks like this model has been replaced by the MV940. I did find this:
Compaq MV920

BTW: Compaq is selling REFURBISHED versions of this monitor in their factory outlet for $399, plus $45 for shipping!

This is such a hot deal! Mercata has got to be eating it on the shipping costs here...

Those of you who got the monitor the first time, what did the final price turn out to be? I know the 379.99 that it is at now is not a whole lot different...was just curious

Damn ebates wouldn't work for me...but the rest of the order was cool. Without ebates I was ONLY able to get the final out of pocket down to 147

Yes! I was so pissed I missed it the first time, but now I got in at 375.75. I only had $50 mercata left so it came out to $170. I guess that's ok. Haha, yeah right, this is such a fat deal. We better be able to get the rebate, that's all I gotta say.

THANKS

Just got the monitor final price (prior to rebate) was $249.82.

This has got to be better than my NEC XV17, if the monitor sucks, I'll just hang it off my Voodoo2 for games or use it with my dreamcast.

END THANKS

VERY hard to find reviews on this monitor. Other than the epinions already mentioned, the only thing I could dig up was references to the monitor in reviews of compaq systems:

http://www.pcworld.com/reviews/article.asp?aid=14380
The Compaq MV920 19-inch monitor displayed rich colors and crisp small text, even at 1024 by 768 resolution

http://www.pcworld.com/reviews/article.asp?aid=15458
Images on the 19-inch Compaq MV920 monitor looked crisp and realistic. DVD movies initially appeared a bit dark, but the screen responded well to a quick adjustment of the brightness settings

Good text at 1024X768 and rapid a brightness setting. Not exactly stellar reviews but it could be worse....

WahooO!!! I was considering the KDS one but it was gone... I was going to jump on this and it was gone! Got in this time... $8 and change for shipping to Chicago... This is a hot deal and if the quality ain't great it'll be easy to sell w/o taking a loss!

http://www.mercata.com/cgi-bin/mercata/mercata/v2/pages/details.jsp?OID=28193

EDIT: When I saw it was back up I went straight to Mercata and got in - I didn't go thru passport.com. When I clicked on the passport wallet to pay it estimated both the mercata % off and the passport % off... Will I get it ok or did I really need to go to passport.com and click on mercata?

EDIT2: This one is a power buy too - is this the 3thd round?

you should be fine as long as you check out with passport and see the discount shown in detail

btw I think this is the 2nd powerbuy the one before this was a fixed price and stayed on the page not for long.

Thanks for the info. Someone posted this deal again as a heads up and one guy replied that he brought something for Christmas 99 and got the rebate Oct. 2000! Hope we don't have to wait that long...

any one know how flat this monitor is...

i don't like the epinions recommendations? they seem to general and everything gets very high ratings. i usually depend on this board for reviews...AT members are pickier and more qualified i think.

oh yeah, i signed up yesterday with mercata and didn't get the 100 bucks...checked this morning and still no dough. just fired off an email and waiting for a response. hopefully this monitor will still be avail by then.

I have the MV900, which I believe had the same CRT tube just different cosmetics. At least the specs are exactly the same as the MV900. I think Compaq just replaced the MV900 with the MV920 last year because they had a lot of problems with MV900's overheating and turning themselves off. I have heard NO such complaints about the MV920. When I bought 2 MV900's in January of 1999 (at full retail of $599.00) I compared it to A LOT of other monitors and found it far better than others available at that time. I haven't really compared it since, but I just ordered 2 more of the MV920 to replace the last 2 15" monitors we have at the office. RUN don't walk over to Mercata and get in on this deal ASAP.

PS. We've sent for 6-8 Compaq rebates in the last couple of years and none of them took longer than 6 weeks to get back.

PSS. Don't compare the MV920 to the MV940. The specs for the MV940 look to be quite a bit lower than the MV920.

When you PowerBuy something do you get it for the price it goes down to or the price you get in at?
