I legit love Malört. It's kind of one dimensional, but it's cool being able to buy something like that off the shelf. Cheap too!we need to find a way to send you a bottle of Malort.

I had some nice mezcal last year and it was a eye opener. Really enjoyed it, has a taste unlike anything else!I've gravitated towards Mezcal because I like the oily mechanic's shop floor flavor that it imparts. Yum! It's kinda like dirty engine oil that's been collected from the floor and filtered through a burned tire.
Is that anything like fernet branca? Because I fucking love fernet branca!we need to find a way to send you a bottle of Malort.
Never had that, but I'm guessing it's inferior to it. Stuff sells for ~$22/btl here. It's a bitter, but doesn't have much complexity. If I had to say what it tastes like, I'd say grapefruit skins. It somehow has a reputation of being awful, and shots are done as dares. When I saw it for sale, I had to try it. I was disappointed in the awful category. I think it's genuinely good, and it's an underserved category where I'm at, so I'm happy to have found it.Is that anything like fernet branca? Because I fucking love fernet branca!

He likes salted licorice too, FWIW. I had some Dutch double salt licorice and it's one of the worst things I've ever had in my mouth.Oh man, I know another one of you: dude sips it like it's some fine sipping drink. What happened to you?
(by the way, that guy is also a strange, pedo-laughing dude that has molested my friends--please don't stay in the "loves malort" demographic!)

It's the ammonium chloride in salty licorice. It's regulated, but I don't know if it's banned in the US. It just isn't a thing over here. I have to order from overseas to get it. Licorice itself is bad for you too. It can kill you if you eat too much.I've never had salted licorice, though. But I do know, from working with some Dutch people, that their stuff is banned here by the FDA and also most of the world, because it has toxic levels of wormwood derivatives, doesn't it?
I love black licorice.licorice is alright, there is definitely flavor profile in the anise world that is very strong. and IIRC, it really was the first flavor for "sweets" like candies and such. I think it was one of the first ice creams? too?

You have to eat rather a lot of licorice that's actually got glycyrrhizin in it to be harmful. Much of what's available in the USA doesn't have it.It's the ammonium chloride in salty licorice. Does your licorice contain glycyrrhizin?
Panda licorice is an authentic licorice product. The key ingredient in Panda licorice is licorice extract, which is made from wild growing licorice root naturally containing small amounts of glycyrrhizin. One does not have to worry about the glycyrrhizin if the use of licorice remains within reasonable limits, just like the consumption of other sweets. You should always follow your doctor's advice regarding your diet.
So squash is concentrated fruit juice that you dilute with water (I mean I say fruit juice but it's mostly flavourings).wut?
Mmm. Ammonium chloride, love me some cough expectorant in my candy. LolIt's the ammonium chloride in salty licorice. It's regulated, but I don't know if it's banned in the US. Merry christmas, have some gin. https://www.totalwine.com/spirits/gin/the-botanist-gin/p/125061750?s=1604&igrules=trueBooze, not licorice!
I'm pretty sure that "anise" is an acquired taste. My step-grandfather (a chef from Sardinia) loved anisette.licorice is alright, there is definitely flavor profile in the anise world that is very strong. and IIRC, it really was the first flavor for "sweets" like candies and such. the Greeks go a lot of things right, some amazingly so!
